Requirements
  • A master's degree in a health-related discipline or Business Administration, plus five years of progressively responsible research, nursing, clinical trials, or related experience that includes supervisory responsibility, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Knowledge of and competency in all regulatory requirements of the Food and Drug Administration, Good Clinical Practice, and the International Council for Harmonisation.
  • Ability to foster strong sponsor relationships through regular engagement, proactive issue resolution, and effective escalation management.
  • Ability to maintain strong relationships with investigators through consistent touchpoints, proactive escalation management, portfolio review and alignment, and targeted education on Emory and Winship procedures and resources.
Responsibilities
  • Provide direct supervision of clinical research staff, including Clinical Research Nurses, Clinical Research Coordinators, Assistant Managers, and Clinical Research Operations Managers.
  • Prepare operational reports and assist in providing Winship-specific education and training.
  • Hire, train, and evaluate staff.
  • Track and assure timely management of staff effort reporting for financial management.
  • Assist the director in understanding and applying the business model as needed.
  • Review site monitoring visit outcome letters and respond to all exit reviews.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures to ensure timely reporting of adverse events, serious adverse events, and unanticipated problems to the Winship Data Safety Monitoring Committee.
  • Monitor the timeliness of responses to sponsor requests for queries by working groups.
  • Develop strategies to maximize timely completion of case report forms within the program.
  • Incorporate the use of OnCore in daily operations.
  • Integrate processes to ensure subject data in OnCore is updated in a timely manner and hold staff accountable for timely and accurate data updates.
  • Provide education to the Winship community and Emory personnel in all aspects of clinical trials.
  • Help develop Winship-specific minimum learning standards and requirements for Clinical Coordinators and physician-investigators.
  • Work with clinical staff to develop and implement patient education resources for clinical trials.
  • Collaborate with Emory Healthcare Nursing and the Office of Quality to develop protocol-specific materials for the orientation and education of clinical staff in conducting clinical research protocols.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance at all levels.
Desired Qualifications
  • SOCRA, Association of Clinical Research Professionals, or related research certification.
