  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 2-8 years of experience in a superintendent role on construction projects.
  • OSHA 30-hour certification.
  • Strong technical and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, safety and site operations software, project management software, and construction management software.
  • Knowledge of construction documenting and drawing, including knowledge of all phases of construction.
  • Knowledge of all divisions of work, methods, materials, scheduling, and cost control.
  • Ability to create a safety-first environment by demonstrating commitment to Zero Injury principles and sustainability practices.
  • Strong union and non-union engagement and labor relations.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment substance abuse test if offered a position.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate assigned trade contractors, self-performed crews, and field activities to ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved scope, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Develop, document, and communicate detailed work plans for assigned scopes and ensure compliance with approved work plans and field directives.
  • Maintain understanding of contract documents, drawings, specifications, and coordination requirements to support trade-level planning; verify that required permits, inspections, and compliance documentation are in place for assigned work areas.
  • Act as the primary safety representative for assigned scopes, enforce applicable safety policies and procedures, and support a safety-first culture in the field.
  • Oversee quality control for assigned trades, conduct inspections, document findings, and implement corrective actions to maintain compliance with project and company standards.
  • Lead contractor meetings related to assigned scopes and coordinate activities with field and project leadership.
  • Maintain accurate daily field reports, safety documentation, and production records using Procore and other required systems.
  • Create and manage trade-level schedules, implement contingency plans, and communicate schedule status, constraints, and updates to the applicable team.
  • Plan and manage jobsite logistics for assigned scopes, including access, material flow, temporary facilities, and sequencing.
  • Assist in resolving jurisdictional disputes and field-level conflicts within assigned scopes.
  • Track production, labor hours, and productivity metrics, and report variances to field leadership.
  • Execute self-perform operations for assigned scopes, including workforce planning and quantification of labor, materials, and equipment needs.
  • Assist with forecasting and cost-of-work projections for assigned scopes.
  • Coach, mentor, and train less experienced team members to support skill development and consistent execution.
  • Support sustainability initiatives and environmental compliance requirements within assigned scopes.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Superintendent on advanced planning, resource allocation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Gilbane building 308 Raleigh Student Housing units. News | September 25, 2026 | Mike Boyd Atlanta & Southeast + Student Housing Gilbane Development recently received the green light from the Raleigh City Council to build a 7-story, 308-unit student housing project near North Carolina State University. Site plans show there will be 98 one-bedroom units, 104 two-bedroom units, 32 three-bedroom units and 74 four- and five-bedroom units. The property is 3.61 acres and currently holds the Rhyne's Gate apartments (shown). The Triangle Business Journal reports that Rhyne's Gate apartments have 48 affordable housing units that will be replaced with the student housing project. Gilbane Development must provide a 120-day written notice of early lease termination and a one-time relocation assistance payment of $2,500 per unit. A number of NC State student housing projects have been proposed. Peerless Development has proposed a 713-bed development on Crest Road, and RPM Living has plans for a 130-unit student housing project on Horne Street.

Gilbane-Led development team reaches financial close on Phase I of Bronx affordable complex. News | June 22, 2026 | Paul Bubny New York & Tri-State + Apartment Buildings Gilbane, in partnership with Strada Development LLC and the Center for Urban Community Services, has reached financial close for 1920 Turnbull, a $170-million-plus affordable and supportive housing development located at 1920 Turnbull Ave. in the Castle Hill/Soundview neighborhood of the Bronx. Located at 1931 Lafayette Ave., 1920 Turnbull will deliver a 22-story building with 228 affordable rental apartments, including 137 permanent supportive housing units for formerly homeless individuals and families. The development team includes Gilbane Development as lead development partner, Strada Development LLC as co-developer, and CUCS as co-developer and service provider. Gilbane Building will serve as general contractor, with Magnusson Architecture and Planning as architect and AKRF as civil engineer. 1920 Turnbull is the first of two planned buildings, with Phase 2 set to add 207 additional affordable apartments, including 15% designated as permanent supportive housing. Phase 2 is expected to close within the next year pending city approvals.
