Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field is required.
  • At least 3 years of Human Resources experience, including full-cycle recruiting and training, is required.
  • Experience in employee relations and compliance is required.
  • Proven experience developing policies and procedures and implementing them is required.
  • Strong knowledge of Human Resources laws, practices, and systems is required.
  • Experience working in and with various Human Resources Information Systems and analyzing the data contained within them is required.
  • Impeccable documentation skills are required.
  • Experience developing systems where none existed before is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, is required.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • The candidate must pass a criminal background check before hire.
  • The candidate must be able to perform the listed physical functions, including lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds and operating a motor vehicle and motor equipment.
  • The candidate must be able to work inside and outside, alone, during protracted or irregular hours, and travel by car, van, bus, and airplane.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain equitable, transparent hiring processes.
  • Partner with supervisors to create and update job descriptions and standardize job descriptions across the organization.
  • Manage job postings, candidate screening, interview coordination, and selection in coordination with pertinent staff.
  • Facilitate structured interviews and develop hiring-team debriefs.
  • Conduct reference checks.
  • Prepare and present competitive, equitable offers aligned with salary ranges in coordination with pertinent staff.
  • Manage the background-check process for candidates who receive an offer.
  • Maintain complete and compliant hiring documentation.
  • Analyze compensation and benefits trends to support talent attraction.
  • Design and implement a consistent onboarding experience, including policy and procedure review, mission and values discussions, organizational structure and org-chart orientation, facility tours, staff introductions, systems training, required compliance training, and process orientation.
  • Ensure that new-hire logistics, including accounts, equipment, email, business cards, name tags, scanning accounts, and shirts, are completed.
  • Manage offboarding processes, including exit interviews, resource collection, and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant employee records and Human Resources Information Systems data.
  • Serve as the primary Human Resources contact for employee questions and support concerning organizational processes, procedures, and policies.
  • Ensure consistent interpretation and application of policies.
  • Handle child-support payments, dependency-related financial assistance, and related documentation for current employees.
  • Handle employee requests for student-loan and loan-forgiveness programs, including Public Service Loan Forgiveness, student-loan repayment incentives, and other loan-forgiveness or repayment assistance.
  • Issue employment verification for benefits, Public Service Loan Forgiveness, and other programs, and maintain accurate employment records.
  • Monitor, track, and maintain accurate employee Paid Time Off balances and reconcile accruals, usage, and reporting.
  • Educate staff on employer-supported Employee Assistance Programs.
  • Administer employee benefits programs, including health, vision, dental, life, retirement, and 401(k) benefits.
  • Lead the annual benefits-renewal and open-enrollment process for all full-time staff.
  • Partner with insurance brokers to evaluate renewal plans and make recommendations to leadership.
  • Ensure timely and accurate employee enrollment.
  • Manage regulatory compliance for 401(k) and health-insurance plans.
  • Lead and support employee-engagement efforts that enhance employee satisfaction, retention, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Administer employee-engagement surveys and share key insights with leadership.
  • Identify trends in employee feedback, turnover, and morale and recommend practical improvements.
  • Partner with managers to strengthen communication, team engagement, and employee experience.
  • Support employee recognition and appreciation efforts.
  • Maintain regular feedback channels to understand employee needs.
  • Promote transparency and consistency in internal communication.
  • Support initiatives that promote employee well-being and mitigate burnout.
  • Advise and support managers on employee-relations and performance issues.
  • Conduct investigations of official internal complaints, including harassment and misconduct complaints.
  • Support disciplinary actions and terminations.
  • Manage unemployment and Equal Opportunity Employer claims.
  • Oversee and continuously improve performance-management processes.
  • Support goal setting, evaluations, and development planning.
  • Train managers on feedback and performance practices.
  • Review personnel policies and procedures for compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Comply with laws regarding reporting and records retention.
  • Maintain accurate records and reporting systems.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and implement updates.
  • Mitigate organizational risk through proactive Human Resources practices.
  • Support workforce planning and organizational-structure development.
  • Educate the Board and leadership on succession planning and advance the process when activated.
  • Align Human Resources practices with organizational strategy and culture.
  • Represent the organization in relevant Human Resources networks and partnerships.
  • Partner with leadership to anticipate and meet staffing needs.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for staff and managers.
  • Lead leadership-development and workforce-skill-building initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning.
  • Support organizational initiatives, events, and change-management efforts.
  • Chair the organization-wide Safety Committee.
  • Serve as the point of contact for workplace incidents and incident reports, including ordering drug testing when appropriate.
  • Engage with and participate in relevant Feeding America opportunities.
  • Serve as the organization's Human Resources representative on Feeding Texas committees, work groups, and trainings.
  • Communicate with the Executive Director effectively, appropriately, and in a timely manner.
  • Follow agency policies and procedures.
  • Attend regularly scheduled one-on-one meetings with the supervisor and quarterly all-staff meetings.
  • Obtain advance approval for unbudgeted financial expenditures.
  • Assist with fundraising events when needed.
  • Assist with disaster-related efforts.
  • Work a weeknight or weekend when needed.

BVFB is a nonprofit that reduces hunger in the Brazos Valley by coordinating with about 35 local food pantries, shelters, and community partners to get and share food. It collects food from drives, individual and business donations, and surplus from grocery stores and manufacturers, then sorts, stores, and distributes it through its partner agencies to those in need (including families, children, seniors, and people in temporary crisis).
