Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering is required.
  • A Professional Engineer license is preferred, or the ability to become licensed in Minnesota within 6-12 months is required.
  • Five to fifteen years of experience working as a Civil Engineer, primarily on transportation-focused projects, is required.
  • Strong project management skills and experience are required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Attention to detail, self-motivation, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills are required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, is required.
  • A valid driver's license is required, or the ability to obtain one.
  • The ability to operate a computer under normal ergonomic office conditions is required.
  • The ability to occasionally work on or visit outdoor project work sites during construction season is required.
  • The ability to lift objects or containers weighing 50 pounds is required.
  • The employee must work scheduled and required hours.
Responsibilities
  • Provide professional engineering services, including planning, design, specifications, plans, reports, construction observation, and project management.
  • Communicate with supervisors and project team members by providing updates and progress during all phases of projects.
  • Attend company, project, and client meetings.
  • Contribute to preparing proposals and participate in interviews to secure work for the firm.
  • Think independently and make rational judgment calls.
  • Provide direction to engineering technicians and other team members on the development of project plans and specifications.
  • Follow the company employee handbook and mandated safety policies.
  • Perform responsibilities in a conscientious, legal, and ethical manner.
  • Participate in professional organizations and community leadership programs.
  • Travel and stay out of town when required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience working as a consultant or for a state agency on Minnesota Department of Transportation, State-Aid, or County-Aid projects in Minnesota is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with Minnesota Department of Transportation prequalification submittals is desirable.
  • A Professional Engineer license is preferred.
