Veolia and Amazon partner to reuse 83M gallons of water annually for Mississippi data centre cooling

Veolia is collaborating with Amazon to develop reclaimed water systems for data centre cooling in Mississippi, supporting Amazon's goal to become water positive in direct data centre operations by 2030. The first facility is expected to be operational in 2027. Veolia will deploy containerised treatment systems converting wastewater into cooling water that meets industrial quality standards. The project is expected to reuse over 83 million gallons of potable water annually once fully operational, equivalent to the annual water use of approximately 760 US homes. The modular design enables scalable deployment across Amazon facilities globally where conditions are suitable. This collaboration is part of Veolia's Data Center Resource 360 offering, designed to optimise resource management for next-generation data centres whilst advancing water stewardship.
