Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Imaging Program.
  • Obtain registration as a Registered Vascular Sonographer through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography or as a Registered Vascular Specialist through Cardiovascular Credentialing International within two years of hire.
  • Obtain Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull a minimum of 40 pounds.
  • Ability to function without lip reading, with hearing aids permitted.
  • Corrected visual acuity sufficient for distant and near objects, including reading small print.
  • Interpersonal skills to communicate, negotiate, and resolve conflict effectively.
  • Motivation for continuous professional development.
  • Ability to interact cooperatively with the health care team and contribute to shared group goals.
Responsibilities
  • Perform advanced non-invasive imaging procedures for vascular laboratories.
  • Perform accurate billing of procedures and prioritize patient scheduling.
  • Coordinate and prioritize patient scheduling to ensure procedures are completed in a timely manner.
  • Obtain information about procedures before testing and answer patients’ pertinent questions about the procedures.
  • Perform non-invasive imaging procedures within established guidelines and timeframes.
  • Notify appropriate medical staff of significant abnormal findings.
  • Document performed procedures in the patient chart to inform the physician that testing is complete.
  • Calculate and measure vascular structures from procedure data to assist the physician in interpreting results and reaching a diagnosis.
  • Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of equipment, procedure rooms, and work areas in the vascular laboratories.
  • Complete accurate documentation through EPIC to ensure proper billing.
  • Participate in education and in-service opportunities to maintain and enhance knowledge.
  • Provide a timely preliminary report on each study and review the preliminary report with the physician.
  • Follow and implement vascular protocols and policies.
  • Participate in training others in vascular ultrasound techniques and procedures.
