Requirements
  • 3-5 years practical payroll work experience required. Must have recent public company experience with a similar size multi-state organization (500-1000 employees).
  • Hands on experience with ADP Workforce Now and NetSuite required. Solid understanding of all federal/state wage and hour laws related to payroll including garnishments, benefits, leave of absence, 401k, FSA and taxes. Working knowledge of payroll best practices.
  • Strong people skills and the ability to discreetly handle confidential information.
  • Ability to understand payroll issues, demonstrate resourcefulness and resolve problems and manage multiple projects in a timely manner.
  • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills to research and resolve inquiries and respond in a timely manner.
  • Organizational skills: task prioritization and effective time management. Ability to multitask, prioritize and meet time sensitive deadlines.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, both written & verbal.
  • Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel (ability to perform pivots, V-lookups and other functions).
Responsibilities
  • Prepare the U.S. semi-monthly payroll for both exempt and nonexempt employees.
  • Prepare and process payroll to ensure accurate, timely processing of payroll in compliance with Company's policies and procedures and with federal, state, and local tax regulations. Prepare and process off cycle payroll as needed.
  • Perform audits prior to payroll transmission and resolve discrepancies found in reconciliations.
  • Prepare payroll related journal entries and reconciliations. Document and update the payroll procedures.
  • Support external financial audit.
  • Ad hoc requests related to payroll reporting from accounting, stock plan administration, HR, and other functional groups.
  • Maintain awareness of changes in laws and regulations that impact payroll.
  • Special project participation (i.e. Audits and Quarterly Government Reports).
