  • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering, physical acoustics, psychoacoustic, and noise control principles (sound pressure/power/intensity, wave propagation, acoustic filters, absorption, transmission loss, resonance, human response to noise, etc.)
  • Experience developing test plans and procedures for new and innovative products to evaluate their acoustic performance
  • Experience managing or working in anechoic chambers with high precision vibroacoustic test equipment (microphones, accelerometers, etc.)
  • Strong fundamentals of basic vibrating systems and how modifications of different parameters affect the resulting response
  • Knowledge of conventional noise reduction/control solutions and measurement techniques
  • Basics of digital signal processing to the data you are collecting, how to process it, and tradeoffs surrounding time and frequency
  • Proven 3D CAD modelling skills (CREO, SolidWorks, etc.)
  • Fluent in MATLAB
  • BS or MS (preferred) in Mechanical Engineering, Acoustics, or similar
  • 5+ years in a Noise Control or NVH setting, with a preference for experience in the consumer appliance industry
  • 5+ years operating vibroacoustic data acquisition software (LMS/Simcenter Testlab preferred, but ArtemiS SUITE, B&K PULSE, or similar is acceptable)
  • Critical listener with great hearing over the audible frequency range
  • Act as a creative and quick thinker, being able to offer meaningful ideas and handle multiple workstreams simultaneously
  • Passionate about the intersection between sound and engineering and improving the quality of people’s lives through quality sounding, 5-star products.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in acoustic and vibrational testing of a wide variety of consumer products
  • Analyze acoustic and vibration frequency spectra to identify and localize noise sources and identify source characteristics
  • Perform psychoacoustic analysis of our products, calculate sound quality metrics, and work within our multi-disciplinary product development teams to create meaningful performance indicators that relate to consumer perception of sound
  • Integrate with other engineering and product development teams to help review designs and offer insights into noise performance
  • Design, implement, build prototypes, and test solutions to various noise and vibration issues – follow your designs and recommendations through to their implementation

What believers are saying

  • Significant investments from firms like Jump Financial LLC and TimesSquare Capital Management LLC indicate strong market confidence and potential for growth.
  • The introduction of innovative products like the Ninja(R) SLUSHi(TM) Professional Frozen Drink Maker showcases SharkNinja's commitment to continuous product development and market relevance.
  • High-profile endorsements and global brand ambassadors like David Beckham can significantly boost brand recognition and consumer trust.

What critics are saying

  • The competitive landscape in home appliances is intense, with major players like iRobot posing a constant threat to market share.
  • Relying heavily on high-profile endorsements can be risky if the public image of the ambassador changes negatively.

What makes SharkNinja unique

  • SharkNinja's dual-brand strategy with 'Shark' and 'Ninja' allows it to target different segments of the home appliance market, unlike competitors who may focus on a single brand.
  • The company's emphasis on high-performance and technologically advanced products sets it apart in the consumer goods market, where many competitors offer more basic solutions.
  • SharkNinja's strategic marketing, led by a seasoned CMO and bolstered by high-profile endorsements like David Beckham, enhances its brand visibility and consumer appeal.
