About the job

Requirements
  • The candidate's pipeline in previous roles was primarily self-generated, with a demonstrated system for identifying accounts, creating urgency, and reaching decision-makers without a warm introduction.
  • The candidate has closed middle-market deals in the $100,000 to $300,000 range, with sales cycles of weeks to a few months rather than transactional volume or an 18-month enterprise motion.
  • The candidate has sold analytical products such as data, intelligence, business performance software, fintech, or workforce analytics, and can translate findings into financial impact on a CFO's profit and loss statement.
  • The candidate writes their own concise, specific outbound emails that make the reader feel understood.
  • The candidate can build a commercial motion without revenue operations, a content team, brand awareness, or other infrastructure.
  • Restaurant experience is useful but not required.
  • The candidate has experience with a self-sourced, analytical sales motion involving CFO or COO buyers and middle-market deal sizes.
Responsibilities
  • Build the entire commercial motion while simultaneously sourcing and closing deals.
  • Source pipeline from trigger events, including CFO, COO, and VP hires at multi-unit groups; private equity acquisitions of restaurant portfolios; minimum wage increases; post-audit-season budget cycles; and Department of Labor activity.
  • Conduct discovery, tie the product's value to identifiable cash exposure in a prospect's portfolio, close the audit engagement, and convert customers to subscriptions.
  • Own the full sales cycle without handoffs, working directly with the CEO and participating on the leadership team.
  • Build the outbound engine through list-building, trigger-event sourcing, Clay and Sales Navigator workflows, outreach sequences, and personally written emails.
  • Run opportunities, close initial contracts, coordinate delivery with the CEO, present findings, and convert customers to subscriptions.
  • Document loss reasons and win patterns to establish the sales playbook.
  • Provide market feedback to shape product direction, including objections, integrations that enable deals, and converting sales language.
  • Hire and recruit the sales team's next member once the needed profile is clear.
  • Within 30 days, become fully immersed in the product, run the intelligence briefing from memory, translate data findings into dollar impact for a CFO, initialize an outbound engine with a 300-account target list, map CFO and COO contacts, flag trigger events, and begin 15 discovery conversations.
  • Within 90 days, sign two customers, identify which triggers and verticals convert fastest and why, and document, iterate, and repeat the outbound sequence.
  • By the end of year one, close six customers, establish a sales playbook covering ICP definition, trigger events, discovery framework, objection responses, and close sequence, and recommend whether the second hire should be an SDR, second account executive, or solutions consultant.
  • Work directly with the CEO and contribute to pricing, packaging, and go-to-market decisions.
  • Participate regularly in person with the CEO.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience selling into restaurant groups, hospitality operators, or multi-unit food service, including familiarity with their profit and loss structure, labor percentages, and budget cycles.
  • Experience at a data or intelligence software company, such as restaurant technology, business intelligence platforms, or workforce analytics, and understanding how to sell insight rather than software.
  • Experience in a founder-led, pre-scale environment where the pitch was evolving and the product was being shaped during sales.
  • A personal network including CFOs, COOs, or multi-unit operators at restaurant groups with 10 to 200 locations.
