University Physicians Association is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse to join our University Palliative Care team. This role is ideal for a nurse who thrives in a collaborative, patient-centered environment and is passionate about improving quality of life for patients with serious illnesses. The position is based within the UT Medical Center Cancer Institute and involves close coordination with physicians, patients, and families to deliver holistic, supportive care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including physical, emotional, and psychosocial evaluations.
- Support symptom management, medication reconciliation, and patient education.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Facilitate as appropriate advance care planning discussions and goals-of-care conversations.
- Coordinate outpatient services including scheduling, prior authorizations, and follow-up care.
- Communicate test results and care updates to patients and families with empathy and clarity.
- Provide triage support for urgent medical issues during clinic hours and on a rotating basis.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Assist inpatient service with triage and phone coverage as needed.
- Build trusting relationships with patients and families, offering emotional support and guidance.

Requirements
- RN License (active and in good standing) required.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience, preferably in oncology, hospice, or palliative care.
- Strong communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- CPR certification for Health Care Providers required.
- Familiarity with EHR systems and outpatient workflows preferred.
