Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of previous experience as an Operations Manager or Project Manager in an industrial cleaning capacity is required.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure health and safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and organizational processes and always acting safely.
  • Manage direct reports by monitoring day-to-day activities.
  • Work from the field during peak business times to ensure customer satisfaction and professional, safe work performance in accordance with organizational practices and customer expectations.
  • Foster open two-way communication with field staff through regular project update meetings and one-on-one information sharing or coaching.
  • Maintain overall business-unit accountability for performance, safety, and profitability.
  • Oversee pre-job mobilization and demobilization, liaise with customer representatives before, during, and after jobs, and ensure quality-control measures are effectively implemented.
  • Participate in budgets and operating metrics while identifying improvements in processes, procedures, and performance.
  • Participate in regular profit-and-loss reviews to ensure budgets are met and develop and implement programs for optimal equipment utilization, equipment maintenance, and labor and material costs.
  • Perform job-site walks with the respective operations manager or site supervisor to confirm adequate people, equipment, and material resources for work execution.
  • Assist with annual budget preparation and monthly or quarterly updates for reforecasting.
  • Assist in developing bids, project costing, and method statements for review by sales and the leadership team.
  • Work with support groups such as health, safety, and environment; administration; and the shutdown-plans team to ensure resources and major scopes are planned effectively.
  • Develop strong customer relationships through regular interactions, progress updates, troubleshooting, work-scope identification, and follow-up meetings.
  • Ensure all operational documentation is submitted daily and is clear, concise, and complete.
  • Determine potential new customers for the region and identify additional work for existing customers.
  • Ensure business-unit assets and inventory are maintained and accurate.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in Business or Environmental Science is preferred.
  • Understanding of oil and gas process facilities and applicable cleaning methods is considered a strong asset.
  • Existing strong customer relationships are considered a strong asset.

GFL Environmental launches two RNG facilities with OPAL Fuels to power 800 heavy-duty trucks

OPAL Fuels and GFL Environmental have begun construction on two renewable natural gas facilities at landfills in Georgia and Alabama. The projects will convert landfill methane into approximately 15 million gasoline gallon equivalents of RNG annually, enough to fuel roughly 800 Class 8 trucks. The expansion deepens GFL's partnership with OPAL Fuels in decarbonising transportation and building RNG infrastructure. However, the development doesn't substantially alter GFL's near-term investment narrative, which remains focused on integrating past acquisitions, managing high leverage and delivering on 2026 revenue guidance. GFL recently authorised share buybacks of up to 34.7 million shares and increased its dividend by 10%. Analysts project the company's revenue could reach CA$8.6 billion by 2029, implying 8.8% annual growth.

GFL to acquire Secure Waste for $6.4B, adding 80+ facilities across Western Canada

GFL Environmental has agreed to acquire Secure Waste Infrastructure for $6.4 billion, expanding its presence in Western Canada and North Dakota. The deal includes over 80 locations comprising 12 landfills, 55 waste treatment facilities, 12 recycling facilities, 98 injection wells and five transfer stations. Secure shareholders can choose $24.75 in cash, 0.4195 GFL subordinate voting shares, or a combination for each share held. Cash payments are capped at 20% of the total consideration, with GFL shares limited to 80%. GFL founder and CEO Patrick Dovigi said the acquisition will densify the company's Western Canada footprint and enhance its ability to offer comprehensive waste management services. The transaction requires shareholder approval and is expected to close in the second half of 2025.
