  • A Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university in a health-related field such as Nursing, Biology, or other Health Science, or in Health Services Management; alternatively, the employee may be actively enrolled in a Bachelor of Science in Nursing program with completion within three years of hire or hold Registered Cardiac Sonographer certification.
  • Two to four years of progressively responsible experience in cardiac catheterization or cardiac imaging and diagnostics.
  • Proven capabilities in time and project management, fiscal management, quality improvement, research, customer relations, radiation protection and safety, and infection control.
  • Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to maintain composure under stress while using tact and good judgment.
  • Knowledge and ability to oversee and perform quality assurance and quality improvement activities.
  • Analytical decision-making skills to quickly assess and resolve complex logistical, technical, and patient-care problems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in relating to medical and hospital staff.
  • Knowledge of effective principles and practices of supervision.
  • A current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Arizona, or certification as an American Registry of Radiologic Technologists technologist, American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography technologist, or Registered Cardiac Sonographer.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Maintain appropriate clinical competencies for assigned roles.
  • Complete required company modules and job-specific training within the specified timeframe.
Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and management for all operational aspects and activities in the Cardiology Service Line at the Flagstaff campus.
  • Develop, implement, and revise policies, procedures, and practices supporting cardiovascular procedures, testing, and patient services.
  • Ensure the department functions at full capacity and complies with accrediting-agency and hospital guidelines.
  • Determine the qualifications and competencies of department personnel who provide patient care and are not licensed independent practitioners.
  • Provide orientation, in-service training, and continuing education for department personnel.
  • Manage and evaluate staff and departmental activities to ensure efficient, productive functioning and quality patient care and customer service.
  • Recommend departmental space and resources and lead the selection of imaging equipment, technical equipment, information systems, inventory-management resources, and patient-care items with clinical leadership.
  • Review departmental objectives and assist in developing short- and long-range goals with cardiovascular service-line leadership.
  • Maintain professional expertise in cardiovascular procedures, equipment, and technologies and plan for departmental growth.
  • Establish charging, coding, and billing procedures for departmental technologies and therapies in accordance with hospital, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Establish inventory-control and cost-reduction strategies.
  • Ensure acquisition, reporting, and maintenance of management data, including procedure volumes, on-time starts, inventory utilization, and supplier pricing or market-share reporting.
  • Prepare capital-equipment and operating budgets and monitor and control expenditures for budget compliance.
  • Develop and apply an advanced understanding of organizational dynamics affecting change within the department and organization.
  • Engage staff in team-building activities to improve the work environment and meet departmental goals.
  • Establish working relationships with managers of operating-room, critical-care, cardiac medical-surgical, emergency-department, and cardiology-practice areas to optimize shared services and resource utilization.
  • Support the development and conduct of departmental research protocols to improve care.
  • Participate in unit, department, and hospital-wide committees and task forces to improve cardiovascular care processes.
  • Ensure patient-confidentiality standards are met in technology infrastructure, staff activities, and communications.
  • Provide planning information to cardiovascular clinical-operations and service-line leadership concerning space, equipment, staffing, systems, services, revenues, expenses, and future programs.
  • Communicate with appropriate departments to support accurate procedure coding and revenue capture, cost monitoring and control, and timely, high-quality services.
  • Present accurate equipment and staffing needs for the departmental budget.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings to disseminate information, solve problems, and educate team members, and distribute meeting minutes.
  • Maintain an open-door process for timely resolution of issues and concerns with physicians and staff.
  • Report safety incidents through the Midas/RDE tool, attend safety training, work safely, and monitor the work environment for safety issues.
  • Comply with applicable state and federal regulations, statutes, and company policies.
  • Ensure required certifications and licenses remain current and valid.
