  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Architecture, Construction or a related field; MBA or related business degree is a plus.
  • 8+ years of experience in business development or client service in the AEC or engineering consulting space, with at least 5 years focused on mission critical/data center environments.
  • Experience securing work with large-scale project teams, particularly in the design or construction phases of data center builds.
  • Strong technical fluency in fire protection, life safety, commissioning, and regulatory compliance in mission critical settings.
  • Demonstrated success in cultivating relationships with hyperscalers, colocation providers, GCs, and A/E firms.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Willingness to travel (approx. 25–50%).
Responsibilities
  • Identify opportunities where Jensen Hughes can serve as a high-value subcontractor for design firms, prime consultants, and construction managers delivering data center projects.
  • Position our niche capabilities, such as fire protection design and code consulting as must have services for mission critical facilities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with general contractors, A/E firms, owner’s reps, and hyperscale providers.
  • Proactively identify teaming opportunities where Jensen Hughes can be brought in early as part of an integrated delivery approach.
  • Lead pursuit efforts including teaming discussions, proposal development, pricing strategies, and contract negotiation.
  • Maintain a high-quality pipeline of opportunities, tracking progress through CRM and internal tools.
  • Represent Jensen Hughes at industry conferences to promote our expertise and build brand awareness.
  • Partner closely with Operational Sales Leaders to align priorities at the local level, allocate resources accordingly and provide increased collaboration to foster mutual success.
  • Provide input into marketing content, case studies, and targeted outreach campaigns for the data center sector.
  • Support internal business development training and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

Jensen Hughes acquires Safety Management Services to expand energetic materials expertise

Jensen Hughes, a global fire and life safety engineering firm, has acquired Safety Management Services (SMS), a Utah-based specialist in process safety and energetic materials consulting. Financial terms were not disclosed. Founded in 1998, SMS provides process hazard analysis, energetic material testing, facility design for explosives operations, OSHA compliance and risk management services to commercial clients and government agencies including national laboratories. The company also manufactures testing equipment for energetic materials and has completed projects across the US, Europe, the Middle East, India, South Korea and Australia. The acquisition marks Jensen Hughes' second deal in 2025. The company, which operates from over 100 offices globally with 1,800 staff, is backed by middle-market private investment firm Gryphon Investors.
