Requirements
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • One year of experience in all phases of general maintenance is preferred.
  • One year of experience in facilities maintenance is preferred.
  • The ability to climb Maintenance Department ladders up to 40 feet and perform repairs and clean vents, lights, and windows for an extended shift is required.
  • The ability to bend, stoop, reach, rotate, and stand for an extended shift is required.
  • The ability to lift 50 pounds from floor to five feet and move furniture, equipment, and machinery up to 400 feet or more is required.
  • The employee must meet the Department of Labor Heavy-Duty Standard: exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
  • The employee must tolerate cleaning solutions and Maintenance Department chemicals, heavy dust areas, temperatures around 100 degrees, and excessive noise for extended shifts.
  • The ability to operate outside grounds equipment, in-house maintenance tools and machinery, and hospital vehicles is required.
  • Knowledge of plumbing, electrical work, and carpentry is required.
  • The employee must be able to work all three shifts alone, work weekends when scheduled, and respond promptly to on-call duties.
Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment and systems throughout the facility.
  • Perform general maintenance work throughout the hospital.
  • Keep tools clean and properly stored, and maintain an inventory of materials.
  • Follow hospital, state, and federal guidelines and departmental policies and government codes for safety, security, and infection control.
  • Maintain facilities and equipment to promote comfort, efficiency, and safety for patients and staff.
  • Operate, clean, and maintain equipment according to department and safety procedures.
  • Use required personal protective equipment while in the department.
Desired Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Electrical Journeyman licensure is preferred.
  • Master’s Electrician licensure is preferred.
  • HVAC Refrigerant licensure is preferred.
