Requirements
  • One to two years of experience in digital media, social marketing, post production, creative operations, or a related field.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, stakeholders, and deliverables simultaneously.
  • Experience coordinating video editors, freelancers, or other creative resources.
  • Working knowledge of social and digital video production, including platform-specific formats and deliverables.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Media Encoder, with the ability to perform light edits, versioning, exports, and quality control.
  • Familiarity with codecs, image types, resolutions, and frame rates as they pertain to digital media trends.
  • Experience with project management and tracking tools.
  • Strong organizational, detail-orientation, proactive communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to independently guide projects from kickoff through final delivery in a fast-paced, changing environment.

Responsibilities
  • Manage social marketing projects from kickoff through final delivery, ensuring assets stay on schedule and meet project requirements.
  • Build, track, and maintain project timelines, asset lists, deliverables, assignments, approvals, and final delivery status across multiple concurrent campaigns.
  • Partner with internal Marketing, Creative, Production, Post Production, and Social teams to coordinate project handoffs and ensure teams have the assets and information needed to complete their work.
  • Coordinate and resource freelance video editors and other creative support based on project needs, timelines, and available budgets.
  • Communicate project expectations, creative briefs, technical specifications, deadlines, and feedback to freelance and internal creative teams.
  • Maintain visibility into the status of active social marketing deliverables and proactively flag risks, delays, missing assets, or resource constraints.
  • Facilitate review and feedback cycles between stakeholders, editors, designers, and other creative partners.
  • Organize and maintain source materials, project files, creative assets, feedback, and final deliverables.
  • Perform light video editing, versioning, resizing, captioning, and adjustments to existing creative as needed.
  • Export, quality-control, and deliver final assets according to platform and campaign specifications.
  • Ensure final assets are properly named, organized, archived, and accessible to relevant teams.
  • Support multiple campaigns and projects simultaneously, adjusting priorities as timelines and business needs change.

BuzzFeed layoffs slash HuffPost National desk from 7 to 3 reporters

BuzzFeed's latest round of layoffs has reduced HuffPost's National desk from seven to three reporters. Management laid off 10 HuffPost Union members in total on Monday. The cuts are part of BuzzFeed's July announcement to eliminate approximately 180 positions across its properties, representing 35% of the company's workforce. This marks the first major restructuring since Byron Allen acquired a 52% stake for $120 million and became CEO in May, succeeding founder Jonah Peretti. The HuffPost Union, represented by Writers Guild of America East, successfully fought off proposed cuts to severance and unused PTO payouts. BuzzFeed reversed its policy of compensating laid-off employees for unused PTO shortly before the cuts, but union members retained this benefit through their contract. HuffPost previously eliminated 30 editorial positions in January 2025, cutting approximately 22% of its newsroom.

BuzzFeed cuts 35% of workforce as Byron Allen restructures after $20M acquisition

BuzzFeed is cutting roughly 35% of its workforce, affecting about 180 staff and contract positions across BuzzFeed, HuffPost, and Tasty. The restructuring marks the first major change since media mogul Byron Allen acquired a majority stake in May for $20 million in cash and a $100 million promissory note. The company cited the need to achieve "profitable and sustainable growth" whilst managing mounting financial struggles. BuzzFeed reported a $15 million net loss in the first quarter, with revenue declining 12.4% year-over-year to $31.6 million. Ad revenue fell nearly 20% to $17.1 million, though content revenue grew roughly 69% to $7.5 million. The millennial-focused media company plans to grow its audience and strengthen its position in free streaming content.

Byron Allen cuts jobs at HuffPost weeks after BuzzFeed acquisition

Byron Allen is cutting jobs at HuffPost weeks after acquiring its parent company BuzzFeed. More than a dozen workers will be affected by the redundancies, according to an internal memo from editor-in-chief Whitney Snyder. Executive Editor Kate Palmer, who joined the outlet in 2012, is also leaving the publication. Allen acquired a majority stake in BuzzFeed earlier this year and became chief executive. He plans to transform BuzzFeed into a streaming-focused media company to rival YouTube, with content appearing on his streaming service Local Now. Allen is currently selling broadcast TV stations to pay down debt from various media acquisitions.

BuzzFeed appoints Stanley E. Washington to board as independent director and compensation chair

BuzzFeed has appointed Stanley E. Washington as an independent member of its Board of Directors, effective 16 July 2026. Washington will serve on the Audit Committee, the Nominating, Corporate Governance, and Corporate Responsibility Committee, and chair the Compensation Committee. Washington brings over 40 years of experience in financial services, fintech, payments, and commercial real estate. He currently serves as President and CEO of Pantheon Global Services Inc., a Beverly Hills-based investment and advisory firm. Previously, he held senior roles at American Express and served as Chief Revenue Officer of publicly traded LogicMark. Greg Coleman is stepping down from the board after serving since 2021. He previously chaired the Compensation Committee and served as BuzzFeed President from 2014 to 2017.

5 publishers adopt AI answer engine to combat traffic loss to ChatGPT, Google

Five major publishers including The Arena Group, BuzzFeed, DMGT, Frommer's and Sports Illustrated have partnered with Gist, ProRata's white-label AI platform, to deploy question-and-answer search technology and advertising formats. The platform features "Gist Answers" and "Question Bar", allowing publishers to keep readers onsite when searching for information rather than losing traffic to ChatGPT or Google Gemini. Publishers retain search data whilst advertisers can sponsor questions and track engagement patterns. Founded by Bill Gross, creator of the pay-per-click model, ProRata has raised over $75 million since launching in 2024, including a recent $40 million Series B round. The technology addresses growing concerns about AI models diverting traffic from publishers, with recent research showing 37% of consumers now start searches with AI engines rather than traditional search. Gist aims to serve 500 million questions monthly by June.
