Requirements
  • A Master's degree; in exceptional circumstances, applicants without a Master's degree but with significant research or professional experience related to the course content may be considered.
  • Expert knowledge of the course content, including Indigenous phonology, structure, basic Indigenous syntax, and rules governing verb and possessive endings.
  • Knowledge of the Quebec Education program and the curriculum of the partnering school board.
  • Familiarity with the 13 professional competencies specified by the Ministère de l'Éducation.
  • Knowledge of the impact of colonialism on Indigenous communities and a proven record integrating pedagogical approaches anchored to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Experience as a teacher, administrator, and/or consultant in the partnering school board.
  • Experience teaching in the Quebec elementary school system.
  • Previous successful experience teaching similar courses to pre-service teachers.
  • Previous successful experience teaching similar courses in Indigenous communities.
  • Experience developing curriculum, policy, and/or instructional approaches grounded in Indigenous knowledge and pedagogies.
  • Adherence to evolving program requirements concerning course content and program-developed competencies, with current course content and references.
  • Capacity and willingness to modify the course to the educational, social, and cultural context of the community where it is delivered.
  • Availability to participate in course coordination and planning activities approximately two weeks before the course start date, online.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience with Indigenous issues in First Nations and Inuit contexts through prior teaching, community engagement, or relevant academic or professional work.
  • English communication skills both verbally and in writing.
Responsibilities
  • Teach Advanced Indigenous Language (Cree) to pre-service teachers in Chisasibi and Waswanipi.
  • Deliver the course in person according to the specified schedule, including the online sessions in Week 2.
  • Participate in course coordination and planning activities before the course start date.
  • Modify the course to the educational, social, and cultural context of the community in which it is delivered.
  • Ensure course content and references reflect current advances in the field and evolving program requirements.

Club M&A and McGill's Dobson Centre launch acquisition programme as $218B in Canadian businesses set for ownership transition

Club M&A Canada and McGill's Dobson Centre for Entrepreneurship have opened registration for their first Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition programme. The intensive four-day course, running 27–30 October in Montreal, targets professionals and aspiring entrepreneurs interested in acquiring existing small or medium-sized businesses. The programme addresses a significant succession challenge in Canada. According to the Business Development Bank of Canada, nearly one in five Canadian businesses will undergo ownership transition within five years, representing over $300 billion in business revenue. Marc Deegan, founder of R33 Ventures, will serve as programme director. The curriculum covers developing investment theses, target evaluation, financial and legal considerations, acquisition financing, and post-acquisition transition. Instructors include transaction professionals, lawyers, tax specialists, investors, and entrepreneurs with acquisition experience. Admission is by application, with no prior M&A experience required.
