Requirements
  • An Associate of Arts degree is required.
  • A Washington State Substance Use Disorder Professional license or Washington State Department of Health credential is required.
  • Applicants must have no history or evidence of alcohol or other drug misuse for the specified period before employment and must not misuse alcohol or other drugs while employed.
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of therapeutic approaches and the ability to set and maintain therapeutic limits are required.
  • Understanding of the theory and practice of individual and group treatment for substance use clients is required.
  • CPR and First Aid certification are required.
  • First Aid and HIV certifications must be maintained.
  • Fluent typing ability with excellent grammar and spelling is required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide direct counseling services to patients in one-to-one or group formats.
  • Perform assessments, evaluations, and intakes for adults, youth, and their families.
  • Develop rapport and communicate effectively with patients in recovery.
  • Facilitate client self-examination, expression of feelings, insight development, problem-solving, and motivation toward a chemically free lifestyle.
  • Follow the organization’s client-centered model with an emphasis on integrated care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Desired Qualifications
  • Proficiency in computer programs such as Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel is preferred.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish ability is preferred but not required.
