Requirements
  • An accredited and current Personal Training Certification is required.
  • Current CPR/AED certification is required.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills are required.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively are required.
  • The ability to interact with the Penn community and provide information about Penn Campus Recreation program offerings is required.
Responsibilities
  • Build individualized, safe, effective, and engaging training plans for clients at all fitness levels.
  • Connect with clients to build rapport and serve as their accountability partner.
  • Explain and demonstrate exercises in detail, including modifications and progressions.
  • Explain and educate participants on the safe and proper use of gym equipment.
  • Teach premium classes such as Penn FIT and Weightlifting 101.
  • Teach wellness outreach events such as free body composition events, wellness expos, and campus partner group events.
  • Check in all program participants and clients using the Fusion software system.
  • Report attendance after every class using the Group Ex Pro software system.
  • Promote Campus Recreation programs and services.
  • Inform participants about gym policies for safety and hygiene.
  • Meet with the Assistant Director as needed.
  • Assist with department-wide programs and staff trainings.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
