Responsibilities
  • Actively engage in program-related meetings, offering alternative approaches to solutions and assisting with overcoming challenges.
  • Conduct Onsite Inspections and Identify Fleet Management Best Practices
  • Demonstrate initiative and independence to set priorities and complete work assignments accurately, timely, and efficiently.
  • Help develop and provide support for best practices and innovative solutions to improve capacity, cost, and quality
  • Help evaluate process and design alternatives based on "Design for Manufacturability" principles
  • Help stakeholders produce and support the development of construction bid plans and documents, write roadway design reports, prepare construction cost estimates & design specifications, as well as coordinating with our clients
  • Maintain capability and capacity to provide technical guidance and training to more junior staff as well as review the work of more junior staff
  • Meet due dates assigned by FTA management and provides prompt responses, and periodic updates, as necessary or required, to internal and external requests for information or project review status.
  • Monitor yield and parametric data trends to identify problems and resolve the root cause.
  • Operations Support for monitoring visits during project operations. Duties include analyzing complex problems, including special studies, as directed.

  • Post-award Support to conduct inspections of projects during construction and rehabilitation, including coordinating site visit schedules.
  • Pre-award Support and conduct onsite visits during the grant development stage and help to identify when the recipient’s actual and stated needs conflict and assure timely intervention when there are indications that the proposed project will not satisfy the Recipient’s actual needs.
  • Provide Guidance and Assistance with Grants Management
  • Provide ongoing Engineering support in Rail, Ferry, and Bus Services to the Puerto Rico FTA Office
  • Provide technical assistance to recipients through meetings, conference calls, and communications in a clear, concise, and efficient manner.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to more junior staff as well as review the work of more junior staff.
  • Provide timely customer service to FTA staff, Recipients, and the public in a respectful professional manager.
  • Provide Understanding and Compliance of FTA’s Objectives and Requirements and support Recipients in understanding compliance with FTA’s programs, objectives, policies, and requirements.
  • Recipient Technical Capacity and Capability Reviews and provide support in the review and evaluation of the Recipients’ management, organization, and project definition data to assist the FTA in determining the technical capacity and capability of the Recipient to implement proposed and current Federal projects efficiently and effectively.
  • Recommend improvements in machine and process health through statistical data analysis, physical assessment, and failure analysis techniques
  • Respond to quality excursions swiftly and effectively, then guide steps to prevent a recurrence
  • Review and Evaluate Recipient’s Fleet Management Plans to review and evaluate recipients’ Fleet Management plans. Team ProSidian shall also assess the extent to which the Recipient has met the requirement to have a Fleet Management Plan and the Recipient’s ability to carry out the Plan.
  • Review Recipient’s Safety and Security Management Projects to review and evaluate if the Recipient is adequately performing required safety and security management activities for its FTA-funded projects.
  • Work closely with the rest of the engineering team to ensure product and process quality by developing and maintaining processes that are efficient, cost-effective, and stable
  • Working with a fantastic team supporting Dept. of Transportation - Federal Transit Administration (FTA) projects as well as project delivery throughout across Engineering Support Services requirements for the FTA 4th Region located in Atlanta; GA and covering Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands
  • Write clear, well-organized, researched, and analyzed documents and project issues, which are conveyed in any memos, reports, and presentations, consistent with applicable guidelines and/or instructions.
Desired Qualifications
  • B.S. or equivalent in a science related field - Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technologies.
  • Successful completion of a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science Degree in Engineering or a related field from an accredited university or college or a combination of education or training, including college-level education and/or technical experience furnishing knowledge of physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering and practical applications; Licensure as a Professional Engineer is desirable but not required; Project Management Professional certification is desirable but not required; Experience reviewing and analyzing transportation project plans for compliance with legal requirements, environmental impacts, Federal-aid requirements, and/or Federal funding standards; Experience researching, interpreting, or applying Federal transportation funding/aid laws, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures for transportation projects; Experience reviewing and making recommendations in the selection process for awarding grants; Experience resolving federal grant implementation issues OR administering grant programs and project facilitation in a State or local agency
