Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with an active Registered Nurse license in Washington State.
  • Licensed Practical Nurses may be considered if they possess equivalent experience to satisfactorily meet the qualifications.
  • Ability to read and write proficiently in English.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with a strong clinical background in ambulatory care.
  • Ability to interact sensitively and effectively with people of diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to perform procedures such as intravenous access and pediatric and adult catheterization.
  • Strong clinical understanding of physiology, psychosocial dimensions of health, and principles of health education.
  • Ability to calculate medical dosages, including milligrams to milliliters.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to use SharePoint, Arcadia, One Health Portal, Health Plan Finder, electronic health records, electrocardiogram monitors, retinal cameras, and other technical resources as needed.
  • Proficiency with Sea Mar’s patient management and electronic health records systems before the end of the probationary period.
  • Washington State licensure as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, depending on experience.
  • Completion of state-mandated HIV education.
  • Obtain Basic Life Support cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification within 90 days of hire and maintain current certification throughout employment.
  • Completion of pre-hire and annual employee health screening.
  • Annual influenza vaccination, unless an approved medical or religious exemption applies.
  • Ability to walk, talk, hear, stand, use hands, reach, and lift or move up to 50 pounds occasionally, with potential exposure to communicable diseases and blood-borne pathogens.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate nursing roles and responsibilities to ensure effective, patient-centered care following clinical guidelines for preventive care and chronic disease management.
  • Collaborate with the Clinic Manager, Medical Director, and other departments to meet clinical quality, provider productivity, and resource management measures.
  • Perform patient outreach for care gaps or patients who have not yet been seen.
  • Implement evidence-based practices and ensure nursing care complies with standards of care and practice regulations.
  • Evaluate clinic operations, programs, processes, and procedures, and implement and sustain changes consistent with organizational practices.
  • Provide clinical and administrative supervision of registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, medical assistants, and ancillary staff.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to nurses and clinical staff.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate clinical care team staff, including medical assistant supervisors, medical assistants, and licensed nurses.
  • Supervise ancillary employees, including care coordinators, integration specialists, health educators, and health advocates.
  • Provide staff training and assess competency through competency tests.
  • Address personnel issues and monitor staff performance related to quality patient care.
  • Participate with executive management, interdisciplinary teams, and stakeholders to develop, implement, and evaluate programs and services.
  • Review and analyze clinic and organizational data to measure the effectiveness of quality patient care.
  • Ensure providers see 18–21 patients per day, depending on provider type.
  • Teach and demonstrate age-appropriate care skills and lifespan growth and development principles.
  • Teach clinical guidelines for preventive care and chronic disease management.
  • Oversee and coordinate daily clinic operations in the absence of the Clinic Manager.
  • Conduct nursing audits to measure staff performance and quality measures.
  • Use the nursing performance-improvement model and Plan-Do-Study-Act as the improvement tool.
  • Plan and implement ongoing in-service training, including corporate, quality-improvement, infection-control, system-change, and regulatory training.
  • Ensure medication administration, storage, maintenance, dispensing, and waste logs are maintained according to policy.
  • Ensure quality controls are performed and documented.
  • Implement infection-control measures, including infection surveillance and prevention.
  • Oversee equipment disinfection and sterilization.
  • Manage resources during outbreaks and patient influxes.
  • Train staff in the use of personal protective equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with The Joint Commission, National Patient Safety Goals, Clinical Quality Measures, Department of Health requirements, and contractual obligations.
  • Coordinate annual employee health screenings.
  • Ensure medical and nursing policies and procedures are followed and implemented.
  • Monitor provider and medical assistant huddles to identify preventive and chronic-care gaps.
  • Track childhood immunizations, chronic disease management, abnormal Pap smears, abnormal mammograms, and other clinical measures.
  • Oversee referral processing by the medical assistant/nurse supervisor.
  • Hire, train, and evaluate the performance of the medical assistant supervisor and establish performance plans when needed.
  • Direct and support medical assistant/nurse supervisors in evaluating medical assistant performance.
  • Oversee staff and patient schedules to maximize accessibility and meet clinic needs.
  • Manage patient grievances.
  • Provide relief nursing supervision or consultation nursing, perform nurse visits, and work directly with providers as site needs require.
  • Manage provider calls and messages, including medication refill requests under standing orders, and resolve follow-up within one business day.
  • Implement team-based care through the Synchronization Model of Care.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Track, perform, and complete Clinical Quality Measures for the team.
  • Collect, screen, and perform Clinical Quality Measures for every roomed patient and document quality controls daily.
  • Provide customer service during each patient visit, including escorting patients to and from treatment rooms.
  • Resolve referred follow-up calls within one business day.
Desired Qualifications
  • Ambulatory care and supervisory experience is highly preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish ability is strongly desired.
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.
