About the company

NVIDIA designs the chips and software that power artificial intelligence and sells complete data center systems to cloud providers, AI labs, and other businesses, along with GeForce graphics cards for gamers. Its GPUs, chips that perform thousands of calculations at once, became the main hardware for AI after researchers used them to train the AlexNet image-recognition model in 2012. NVIDIA connects many GPUs with its own processors and networking gear into servers and rack-sized computers, and developers program them through its CUDA software. These systems bring in most of its sales, and it also makes chips for cars and robots. Jensen Huang co-founded NVIDIA in 1993, and it is based in Santa Clara, California.

What believers are saying

  • AI demand is still surging: data center sales rose 117% to $89 billion in the quarter ending July 2026.
  • Stock grants are worth more: shares hit a record in October 2026, up 28% for the year.
  • Engineering dominates hiring: 1,722 of NVIDIA's 2,686 job listings in October 2026 were in engineering.

What critics are saying

  • Big buyers are hedging: Meta's February 2026 agreement covers 6 gigawatts of AMD chips.
  • Financing its buyers is getting harder: lenders pushed back on NVIDIA's $500 billion chip-backed loan plan in October 2026.
  • Staff described long hours: Bloomberg's August 2024 interviews reported seven-day weeks, late nights and shouting matches.

What makes NVIDIA unique

  • Rivals must match its software too: over 7.5 million developers use CUDA and other NVIDIA tools to program its chips.
  • The CEO has a broad direct staff: Jensen Huang says over 60 people report to him, without one-on-ones.
  • People rarely leave: NVIDIA's yearly staff turnover is 3.7%, versus a 21.9% average across the tech industry.

Nvidia's 7.2% October drop fits Jim Cramer's buy rule, but AI financing risks loom

Nvidia shares closed at $221.97 on October 21, down 7.2% from their October 6 high of $239.24. That puts the drop inside the 5% to 8% pullback range that Jim Cramer says he waits for before buying strong stocks. Cramer said less than 5% is probably too early, while more than 8% may signal a problem with the company. Nvidia fell more than 10% at one point, closing at $214.13 on October 16, before recovering. The bigger worry is whether customers can pay for AI data centres. CoreWeave, which Nvidia backs, carried $51.61 billion in total debt. Nvidia expects fiscal third-quarter sales of $108 billion, plus or minus 2%. Cramer repeats his advice: "Own it, don't trade it.

Nvidia CEO's waddling Microduck robots draw 20,000 preorders in a day after viral keynote

Nvidia chief executive officer Jensen Huang played with a flock of waddling Microduck robots during his keynote at the GTC Berlin conference, and the video went viral. By the next day, preorders passed 20,000 units, Hugging Face's Clem Delangue said in a tweet. The robots sat, "napped," and somersaulted on voice command. Delangue thinks they could be the year's best-selling robot, and adults appear in the promotional videos too. They are due for delivery in time for Christmas. Microducks are open-source devices made by Pollen Robotics, which Hugging Face acquired in 2025. Nvidia bought Hugging Face in September. Owners can teach the robots new tricks and share them with the community.

Nvidia unveils Minerva software to cut AI data centre downtime as shares trade at $212.16

Nvidia has unveiled Minerva, software designed to keep large AI data centres running by spotting failing components early. The aim is to prevent interruptions that leave costly computing capacity idle. IREN already uses Minerva, while IBM, Lambda, and Tesla plan to deploy it. Dell, Lenovo, and Supermicro intend to offer the platform to their customers. Minerva links equipment data with running workloads. It helps teams investigate bottlenecks, group related alerts, and anticipate failures. Nvidia shares traded at $212.16 at 9:55 EDT. The company has not disclosed Minerva pricing.

Nvidia revenue jumps 106% to $96B as CUDA lock-in keeps dips attractive

Nvidia shares fell 4.4% in the latest session and 7.28% over the past month, closing at $212.21. One analyst argues the dip is a buying chance, citing the lock-in of the company's CUDA software, which developers and cloud providers rely on. Revenue for the second quarter of fiscal 2027 rose 105.8% to $96.22 billion. Data Center revenue hit $89.02 billion, up 117%. Nvidia guided to $108 billion for the next quarter, plus or minus 2%. The company reports a 71.07% gross margin and a price-to-earnings ratio of 43. AMD trades at 191 times earnings, while Broadcom's AI revenue grew 221% but comes with heavy debt. Risks include supply commitments that rose to $279 billion from $119 billion, and guidance that excludes China Data Center compute.

Nvidia launches Minerva AIOps platform to monitor AI factories, with IREN and IBM on board

Nvidia has launched Minerva, an AIOps platform that gives end-to-end observability across AI factory infrastructure and workloads. It sits within the Nvidia Vera Rubin platform and collects telemetry from GPUs, Spectrum-X Ethernet, NVLink switches, SuperNICs, data processing units, schedulers, and the AI workloads themselves. A knowledge graph maps links between hardware and workloads, so operators can trace a slow training job to the faulty component. Minerva processes billions of data points per hour, uses machine learning to predict faults, and groups cascading alerts into single incidents with a probable root cause. A built-in AI assistant offers remediation advice. IREN already uses the platform. Aolani, Bitdeer AI, IBM, Jio, Lambda, Quake AI, and Tesla plan to deploy it, while Dell Technologies, Lenovo, and Supermicro will add it to their AI factory offerings.
