Requirements
  • Current registration as a Licensed Pharmacy Technician in the State of Georgia.
  • Certification as a Pharmacy Technician by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or National Healthcareer Association.
  • Three years of experience in either a hospital or advanced pharmacy role.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the pharmacy department with maintaining automation, performing quality improvement and data collection, evaluating and maintaining clean room and compounding areas, overseeing daily technician roles, ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, and processing medication orders or medication requests from a pharmacist.
  • Provide organizational and technical support to ensure proper preparation of pharmaceuticals and compliance with established pharmacy operation protocols and guidelines.
  • Provide guidance and serve as a knowledgeable resource for staff regarding surgery pharmacy.
  • Participate in onboarding and training new employees.
  • Participate in developing and coordinating staff education related to operations in procedural areas.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory control for non-controlled medications and supplies in surgery pharmacy satellites.
  • Assist with special projects and competency assessments, and provide extra assistance with tasks beyond the normal daily workload.
  • Create the pharmacy technician work schedule with approval from surgery pharmacy leadership.
  • Coordinate all daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning procedures for compounding environments.
  • Coordinate and assure pharmaceutical quality by maintaining United States Pharmacopeia 797 compounding requirements.
Desired Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited pharmacy technician or pharmacy training program.
  • One year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician at Northside Hospital.
