  • Review assigned work orders, confirm priorities with the team lead, and stage cables and optics for rack installation work.
  • Terminate fiber runs at patch panels, conduct optical time-domain reflectometer tests, and validate loss results against acceptance thresholds.
  • Update configuration management database records for completed work orders and de-tag and stage recovered assets from end-of-life decommissioning work.
  • Escalate deviations from approved method of procedure documents to the team lead rather than improvising.
Desired Qualifications
  • The ability to work in cramped spaces or elevated locations while following health and safety guidelines is preferred.
  • Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure is preferred.
  • Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system is preferred.
  • Experience with cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies is preferred.
  • Experience working in a data center environment, including racking and stacking equipment, cable management, and hot/cold aisle containment, is preferred.
  • Familiarity with rack decommissioning, including device wiping, media destruction, and asset recovery procedures, is preferred.

About the company

Amazon runs the largest online store in the United States and rents cloud computing to businesses and governments through Amazon Web Services. AWS pioneered renting computing power over the internet, and Amazon built its own delivery network to get orders to customers quickly. Shoppers buy from Amazon and from independent sellers on its store, and Prime members pay a subscription for fast free shipping, streaming video and music, and other perks. AWS rents out computing power, storage, databases, and AI tools so companies can run software without owning servers, and Amazon also makes Kindle e-readers and Echo speakers with the Alexa assistant. Jeff Bezos founded Amazon in 1994, and it is based in Seattle, Washington.

What believers are saying

  • AI drives growth: AWS's AI and custom-chip sales each more than doubled, passing $25 billion a year by June 2026.
  • Stock grants gained value: shares hit a record in August 2026, making Amazon the fifth company to reach $3 trillion.
  • Ads are a third engine beside stores and AWS: they grew 26% to $19.8 billion in the June 2026 quarter.

What critics are saying

  • AWS's lead is shrinking: in the June 2026 quarter, Google Cloud grew 82% and Microsoft's Azure 43%, versus AWS's 37%.
  • Job security has slipped: Amazon cut 30,000 corporate jobs in October 2025 and January 2026 to reduce management layers.
  • Expect five office days a week: Amazon ended its three-day hybrid policy for corporate staff in January 2025.

What makes Amazon unique

  • Most of Amazon's profit comes from cloud: AWS made 21% of sales but 60% of operating profit in mid-2026.
  • Amazon is America's biggest parcel carrier by volume: it handled 6.9 billion packages in 2025, more than the Postal Service.
  • Writing matters more than slides: Amazon meetings open with silent reading of a six-page memo instead of PowerPoint.

Amazon's $250 Echo Studio adds a 13MP camera, with Alexa+ able to see what's in front of it

Amazon has added a 13MP camera to its Echo Studio smart speaker. The Echo Studio with Home Camera costs $250, $30 more than the camera-free version. The camera lets the speaker adjust volume as users move around a room. Owners can also check on a room remotely, and Alexa+ can identify objects, such as a cereal box, to help reorder them or explain a board game's rules. Audio hardware is largely unchanged: one 3.75-inch woofer, three full-range drivers, Dolby Atmos and the AZ3 Pro processor. Amazon also announced Advanced Room Adaptation, which tunes sound to the room's acoustics. A button turns off the microphones and camera, and an LED shows when it streams to the cloud. Amazon previously settled an FTC lawsuit over Ring privacy allegations for $5.8 million.

AdRazor launches free Amazon profit calculator covering FBA, FBM and ten European markets

AdRazor has launched a free Amazon profit calculator that shows sellers their profit per unit and break-even advertising cost of sales (ACoS) in seconds. The tool covers both Fulfilled by Amazon (FBA) and Fulfilled by Merchant (FBM) across 10 European marketplaces, including the UK, Germany, and France. Sellers enter a selling price, category, fulfilment method, and cost of goods. The calculator subtracts VAT, referral fees, FBA fulfilment fees, shipping, and storage. A break-even ACoS of zero means a product loses money before any ad spend. "This calculator makes the margin visible in seconds, and it's free with no sign-up," said Michael Parker of AdRazor. Users can compare FBA and FBM costs and download results as a PDF.

Amazon unveils new Echo lineup with Alexa+ as tech giants push AI deeper into the home

Amazon has unveiled new Echo devices that bring more AI into the home. The lineup includes Alexa-powered speakers, an AI-infused digital picture frame, smart alarm clocks, and a smart display for managing the home, all running the latest version of Alexa+. The speaker recognises who is talking and plays that person's playlist. The alarm clock uses ultrasound to track breathing and improve sleep. Another feature lets users build a 3D map of their house and pull in Ring cameras to monitor people and cars outside. Home robots will eventually need that kind of spatial data. Google, Apple, and reportedly OpenAI are also racing to put AI into home hardware. But there may be limits to how much of it people want.

Generac's Amazon backup power deal tests its data center ramp-up with $1.6B backlog

Generac Holdings has signed a long-term backup power agreement with Amazon, with data center deliveries planned for 2027 and 2028. Investors will watch the next earnings report for shipment timing, factory capacity and how much of the backlog turns into sales. Generac must scale high-megawatt production while keeping margins and capital spending in check. The deal sits alongside about $450 million of expected 2026 data center revenue and a $1.6 billion dedicated backlog. Analysts' central forecast points to revenue of $7.8 billion and earnings of $918.4 million by 2029, up from $258.2 million today. The main risk is that spending on capacity, including the Belvidere plant, runs ahead of actual orders and squeezes free cash flow.

AWS makes 60% of Amazon's $16B-plus profit mix, but is the stock still a safe buy?

Amazon Web Services (AWS), not e-commerce, now drives most of Amazon's profit, which challenges the stock's reputation as a safe bet for cautious investors. AWS made up 21% of Amazon's second-quarter sales but 60% of its operating income. Its sales rose 37%, the fastest pace in more than four years, and it reached a $169 billion annualised revenue run rate. AWS earned $16 billion in operating income on $42 billion in sales, while North America earned about $9 billion on $116 billion. Amazon plans $220 billion in capital expenditure this year. Free cash flow for the trailing 12 months turned negative, at an outflow of $7.6 billion, against an inflow of more than $18 billion a year earlier. The stock trades at 29x forward earnings, down from more than 34x a few months ago. Third-quarter results are due October 29.
