AGCF opens second boutique at St. Regis Longboat Key, reuniting Gucci family legacy with hotel brand after 65 years

Alexandra Gucci Zarini's luxury accessories house AGCF is opening its second boutique inside The St. Regis Longboat Key Resort in Florida. The opening marks AGCF's first East Coast location, following its flagship store on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. The move reconnects the Gucci family with St. Regis more than six decades after Aldo Gucci, Zarini's grandfather, opened a store at The St. Regis New York in 1960. AGCF operates as a Delaware Public Benefit Corporation, with a portion of proceeds supporting charity partners focused on child protection. The boutique, located in the resort's lobby, will offer handbags, leather goods, silk scarves, jewellery, and eyewear. The opening coincides with AGCF's partnership with the World Childhood Foundation, with 20% of proceeds from its Color of Hope collection supporting Childhood USA.

Kelowna reaches deal to build Marriott hotel in downtown.

Kelowna reaches deal to build Marriott hotel in downtown. Published 4:35 pm Tuesday, September 29, 2026 | Getting your Trinity Audio player ready... | Marriott International could be part of Kelowna's future waterfront hotel at 289 Queensway Avenue. The City of Kelowna says it's moving forward with plans for the hotel downtown, planning to partner with one of Marriott International's brands for the project. Mayor Tom Dyas says the project reflects the momentum and bold investment shaping Kelowna's waterfront and city. "Alongside enhancements to the downtown waterfront, like the recently opened City Park boardwalk and development of a new swim venue, a premier waterfront hotel will help create a destination that attracts visitors, supports businesses and brings energy downtown year-round," said Dyas. The portfolio for Marriott has more than 10,000 properties across 148 countries around the world, serving more than 295 million Marriott Bonvoy members. The partnership will build on the city's 2025 acquisition of the property, which includes the Kelowna Downtown Marina, to advance a world-class hotel right in the heart of the city's downtown and waterfront. The City of Kelowna made the purchase from Westcorp and decided to hold onto the property until the right opportunity came along with a developer. While the partnership is in its early stages, The City of Kelowna is working with Avington to bring the project into reality. Avington is a global leader in strategic advisory services in the hospitality and real estate sectors.

Kelowna wants to partner with Marriott to bring long-talked-about downtown hotel to life.

Kelowna wants to partner with Marriott to bring long-talked-about downtown hotel to life. The City of Kelowna wants Marriott's name to be on its future premier waterfront hotel downtown. It's a project that has been long discussed and is now in City hands after the purchase of multiple properties in the area from Westcorp for $27.8 million last fall. When the deal happened nearly a year ago, Mayor Tom Dyas promised the development of a "world-class hotel" and adjacent marina before the end of the decade. Photo Credit: Westcorp An old rendering of the proposed 33-storey hotel. There has been little news since, but the City's announcement today about plans to partner with the Marriott International brand on the major project signals a step forward. "This project reflects the momentum and bold investment shaping Kelowna's waterfront and City," Dyas said in a statement provided Tuesday afternoon. "Alongside enhancements to the downtown waterfront, like the recently opened City Park boardwalk and development of a new swim venue, a premier waterfront hotel will help create a destination that attracts visitors, supports businesses and brings energy Downtown year-round." According to the City, a premium Marriott brand on the waterfront would support tourism, increase Kelowna's capacity to host major conferences and events, create jobs and contribute to the local economy. Marriott's portfolio includes over 10,000 properties in 148 countries and territories, serving more than 295-million Marriott Bonvoy members. Photo Credit: Westcorp An old rendering of the proposed 33-storey hotel. The City says the partnership builds on the October 2025 acquisition of an office building at 1440-1460 Pandosy St., a vacant development site and former city roadway at 289 Queensway Ave., and the Kelowna Marina at 210 Bernard Ave. Before the sale, Westcorp had received development permits in 2018, 2020 and 2022 to build a hotel, with the most recent plans calling for a 33-storey tower, but the permits expired before construction began each time. The project was first approved by Kelowna city council in 2014 when a 24-storey tower was pitched, but the most recent Westcorp plans before the sale called for a much higher tower at 33 storeys. While the partnership with Marriott is new, the City continues to work with Avington to bring the project to life. Avington, a global leader in strategic advisory services in the hospitality and real estate industries, will lead a public marketing and sale process to attract qualified development partners.
