Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalency is required.
  • Three years of professional work experience are required.
  • Basic knowledge of standards and processes within a narrow scope of work is required.
  • PC or Mac computer experience is required.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, is required.
  • Ability to use a simulation center management application is required.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including possible early mornings and late evenings, is required.
  • Experience working in a simulation lab with manikins is required.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a professional role model for students in dress, communication, deportment, problem solving, care delivery, and patient advocacy.
  • Participate in implementing the philosophy and goals of the nursing program.
  • Give and accept feedback on simulation program initiatives.
  • Support daily operations of the learning lab.
  • Assist with lab supplies inventory using a simulation center management application.
  • Orient students and faculty to the simulation lab.
  • Maintain currency in the field and communicate supply needs to the Supervisor, Lab Faculty.
  • Program patient scenarios and set up the control room for simulation activities.
  • Prepare scenario props, create scenario moulage, set up simulation rooms, assemble pre-simulation learning materials, and set up recording in the simulation center management application.
  • Pre-brief students, staff, and faculty on the simulation environment.
  • Operate the simulation console, simulation software, instructional media equipment, video cameras, and audiovisual distribution systems.
  • Manipulate the simulator during scenarios.
  • Record simulation activities in the simulation center management application.
  • Assist faculty in monitoring student safety during learning-lab experiences.
  • Provide theatrical support, including moulage and voice-over, to create realism.
  • Assist faculty in operating debriefing equipment.
  • Provide feedback to improve the simulation experience.
  • Return the simulation room to its pre-scenario condition.
  • Retrieve, repackage, and return non-consumable supplies to their assigned location.
  • Ensure simulation activity recording files are available to faculty for education, training, and debriefing.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Vocational or technical education in addition to prior work experience is preferred.
  • Health care and computer or technology experience is preferred.
  • Experience in simulation-based education is preferred.
