Requirements
  • An associate degree from a two-year college or technical school in Ultrasound or higher.
  • Must be a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS).
  • Must be a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or Vascular Sonographer (VS).
  • Must be credentialed in at least one of the following: Abdomen (AB) or Obstetrical (OB/GYN).
  • Must hold a current Basic Life Support (BLS) card within 30 days of hire or by the end of orientation, whichever comes first; acceptable courses are from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Thorough knowledge of ultrasound diagnostic techniques, treatment, and education.
  • Strong skills using software such as Excel, Word, and electronic medical record systems.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to work in a light-work capacity, occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds and frequently lifting up to 10 pounds.
  • Must be available for on-call coverage within one hour.
Responsibilities
  • Perform ultrasound studies accurately and efficiently according to established protocols or physicians' special instructions.
  • Prepare reports for physician interpretation and ensure quality images are available for the interpreting physician.
  • Provide age-appropriate care and anticipate patient and family needs related to comfort and safety.
  • Participate in patient transportation.
  • Assist regulatory and accrediting agencies to ensure departmental compliance.
  • Perform department surveys and equipment quality control, and report service variances.
  • Act in accordance with the established mission, vision, and values.
  • Comply with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act privacy and security regulations regarding Protected Health Information.
  • Maintain effective communication and professional working relationships with patients, clients and their representatives, team members, contractors, physicians, peers, outside agencies, and the public.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
