About the job

Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
  • At least 6 years of hands-on software engineering experience building and deploying production-grade systems using Python, Java, or Node.js.
  • At least 5 years of experience translating client or business requirements into target-state solution architectures using REST APIs, microservices, event-driven architectures, or serverless components.
  • At least 2 years of experience delivering solutions on Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, including containers, continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines, and version control tools.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience designing, building, and deploying generative AI or large language model solutions, such as agents, retrieval-augmented generation, or tool-calling, in a client or production environment beyond proof-of-concept.
  • Hands-on experience applying production AI engineering practices—evaluation, guardrails, observability, reliability, security, and cost/performance management—to deployed models and agentic systems.
  • Ability to work directly and independently within a client's environment and codebase, including navigating unfamiliar systems and undocumented workflows.
  • Ability to build automation that integrates with monitoring, IT service management, or governance, risk, and compliance platforms to support control monitoring, evidence collection, and response workflows.
  • Experience leading client enablement activities, including workshops, demonstrations, adoption planning, and operational handoff, to help client teams adopt and sustain delivered solutions.
  • Experience contributing to and extending reusable AI accelerators, tools, or frameworks that speed up delivery across engagements.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate as part of a team.
  • Effective written and verbal communication, attention to detail and work-product quality, and ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to build and sustain professional relationships, lead projects or workstreams, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to mentor and provide clear guidance to others.
  • Ability to travel 25–50% on average, depending on the work, clients, and industries or sectors served.
Responsibilities
  • Design and build AI-enabled solutions, including agents, retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, and automation workflows, directly inside client environments using clients’ live data and systems.
  • Ensure deployed AI systems meet production standards for evaluation, guardrails, observability, reliability, security, and cost/performance management.
  • Build automated controls and response workflows supporting disaster recovery orchestration and continuity and recovery operations.
  • Build AI-enabled control and evidence collection capabilities that automate inventory, monitoring, and evidence gathering to produce audit-ready evidence across cybersecurity, continuity, and third-party resilience programs.
  • Translate client business needs, including resilience use cases such as continuity planning and recovery orchestration, into working production-grade AI technical solutions aligned to target architecture.
  • Lead hands-on design, integration, deployment, and operation of production-grade solutions, including troubleshooting and resolving technical issues within scope.
  • Shape technical solutions during pursuits by leading demonstrations, proofs of concept, prototypes, effort estimation, and pricing inputs.
  • Lead client-facing workshops, demonstrations, and training to drive adoption of AI capabilities, and support operational handoff so client teams can run and maintain the delivered solutions.
  • Manage client delivery by overseeing scope, timelines, quality, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement across engagements.
  • Contribute to and extend reusable accelerators, documentation, and engineering best practices to build team and client capability.
  • Mentor engineers and lead individual workstreams within the engagement.
Desired Qualifications
  • Exposure to disaster recovery, business continuity, or third-party resilience concepts; domain onboarding will be provided.
  • Front-end or full-stack breadth in JavaScript/TypeScript and a modern user-interface framework such as React or Next.js for building demo apps and lightweight delivery tooling leveraging agentic coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor.
  • Experience with agent orchestration or large language model application frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, Model Context Protocol, Bedrock Agents, Azure AI Foundry, or Vertex AI.
  • Experience with governance, risk, and compliance, IT service management, or monitoring/observability platforms such as ServiceNow, Archer, Splunk, or Datadog, relevant to control monitoring and evidence automation.
  • Familiarity with control frameworks or standards such as NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ISO 22301, or SOC 2 sufficient to model them in code; audit or assessor experience is not required.
  • Experience designing AI-enabled use cases within resilience or continuity workflows, such as disaster recovery orchestration, control and evidence automation, or third-party resilience monitoring.
  • Prior experience in a forward-deployed, embedded, or client-site engineering model rather than offshore or remote-only delivery.
  • Industry depth in a regulated vertical such as financial services, healthcare, or public sector, and exposure to associated compliance regimes such as SOX, PCI DSS, FFIEC, HIPAA, or GDPR.
  • Kubernetes, GitOps, and advanced cloud-native delivery patterns.
  • Familiarity with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow and model evaluation.
  • Relevant cloud certifications for AWS, Azure, or GCP, or AI/ML-specific certifications.

About the company

Deloitte audits companies and advises businesses and governments on tax, technology, and risk, and it is one of the Big Four, the world's four largest accounting firms. In 1849 its founder became the first independent auditor of a public company, Britain's Great Western Railway. Its auditors check companies' financial reports for errors and fraud before investors rely on them, while its consultants design strategy, install business software, and defend clients against cyberattacks. Clients pay fees for each audit or project, and each country's Deloitte firm is a separate business owned by its local partners. Deloitte was founded in London in 1845 and is based in New York.

AI forces companies to rethink hiring practices as job applications surge and entry-level pipelines shrink

Business Insider convened 15 HR and C-suite leaders in Davos to discuss how AI is reshaping hiring and talent pipelines. The roundtable, presented by Indeed, revealed growing concerns about entry-level positions and skills assessment. Deloitte's Elizabeth Faber emphasised maintaining a "human-led, technology-powered" approach whilst carefully navigating reduced junior hiring. TCW's Melissa Stolfi noted her firm has downsized its analyst class but maintains a pyramid structure to preserve apprenticeship culture and future leadership pipelines. Indeed's chief economist Svenja Gudell warned that whilst tech employers now demand five-plus years' experience, this creates future talent shortages if junior hiring continues declining. Salesforce's Nathalie Scardino said her company receives two million applications annually and has shifted focus from years of experience to learning aptitude. Manpower Group's Becky Frankiewicz noted AI can process candidates faster whilst reducing bias, potentially unlocking opportunities beyond traditional qualifications.

Deloitte to hire 50,000 employees in India, eyes Mangaluru expansion

Deloitte plans to hire 50,000 employees in India and is evaluating Mangaluru, Karnataka, as a potential new location, according to South Asia CEO Romal Shetty. The company currently employs 140,000 people in India, representing one in four Deloitte employees globally. Shetty said India hosts 50% of all global capability centres worldwide, with significant growth potential in Tier II and Tier III cities. He proposed creating digital economic zones integrating GCCs, GPU-based data centres, startups and academic institutions to accelerate expansion. The CEO called for streamlining GCC setup processes from six months to two weeks, whilst acknowledging infrastructure constraints around energy and water for data centres. Shetty noted Mangaluru offers advantages including talent availability and real estate, adding the company's presence there is a matter of timing.
