Requirements
  • A minimum of two years of experience adjudicating first- and third-party commercial Garage Bodily Injury claims.
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited university, or two insurance designations or four additional years of related garage bodily injury claims adjudication experience in lieu of the degree.
  • A Licensed Claims Examiner license based on state, or the ability to quickly obtain required licenses within 120 days.
  • Knowledge of commercial claims and a strong customer service focus.
  • Business acumen, including understanding how an insurance company operates and generates profit and how the role affects company and customer profitability.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment, discretion, and independent judgment on significant matters.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build lasting relationships.
  • Excellent evaluation and strategic skills.
  • Strong claims negotiation skills and a proactive, pragmatic approach to negotiation.
  • Strong customer focus.

Responsibilities
  • Adjudicate higher-complexity commercial Garage Bodily Injury claims under technical direction and within assigned authority limits.
  • Resolve generalized issues that require understanding of a broad set of issues.
  • Gather detailed information, analyze issues, and investigate numerous undefined problems to identify solutions.
  • Report claims trends and developments to senior management and underwriters.
  • Identify loss drivers and claims trends and use data analysis and improved claim management to reduce claims frequency and severity.
  • Analyze claims forms, policies and endorsements, client instructions, and other records to determine whether losses fall within policy coverage.
  • Investigate claims promptly and thoroughly, including interviewing all involved parties.
  • Manage claims in litigation.
  • Manage the claims diary and complete tasks timely to move cases toward favorable financial outcomes and timely resolution.
  • Set claim reserves appropriately.
  • Identify, assign, and coordinate expert resources to assist with case resolution.
  • Prepare reports for file documentation.
  • Apply creative solutions that produce favorable financial outcomes.
  • Negotiate timely and effectively within assigned authority limits to provide cost-effective solutions for the company and its customers.
  • Process mail and prioritize workload.
  • Complete telephone calls and written correspondence with insureds, claimants, and other parties.
