- Inspect incoming raw materials, purchased parts, and subcontracted components for dimensions, appearance, material certifications, and documentation.
- Identify and segregate non-conforming materials, raise inspection reports, and communicate quality concerns to suppliers.
- Conduct stage inspections during manufacturing processes and verify critical dimensions, tolerances, and process requirements.
- Ensure production processes comply with control plans and work instructions, and provide immediate feedback to operators and supervisors regarding quality issues.
- Perform final dimensional and visual inspections before product release and verify conformity to customer drawings and specifications.
- Review inspection records and quality documentation, and support final product approval and shipment release activities.
- Identify, document, and report non-conforming products; prepare Non-Conformance Reports; assist Quality Engineers with root-cause investigations; and verify the effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions.
- Use and maintain Coordinate Measuring Machines, Vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, thread gauges, plug gauges, surface roughness testers, paint-thickness testers, and hardness testers.
- Ensure measuring equipment is calibrated and handled properly, and report damaged or out-of-calibration equipment.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and reports, review engineering drawings, specifications, and inspection standards, update quality tracking systems and databases, and support internal and external audits with inspection records and evidence.
- Participate in quality-improvement initiatives and support Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma activities.
- Recommend improvements to inspection methods and quality controls, and assist in reducing scrap, rework, and customer complaints.
- Experience with precision machining, automotive components, heavy engineering products, or sheet metal and fabrication industries.
