  • The candidate must maintain the required knowledge and certifications for the position and complete all training required by the YMCA of Metro Atlanta.
  • The candidate must demonstrate attention to detail, quick decision-making, and the ability to recognize and remedy hazardous or dangerous situations.
  • The candidate must have strong interpersonal communication and conflict-management skills to tactfully enforce rules and regulations.
  • The candidate must be dedicated to member safety and the YMCA mission and values.
  • The candidate must be able to perform moderate physical activity, including standing for long periods, walking, running, crouching, kneeling, bending, twisting, and reaching.
  • The candidate must be available to work nights and weekends.
  • The candidate must pass criminal background, drug, motor vehicle record, and reference checks according to company policy.
  • The candidate must be able to run, bend, stoop, stand, lift up to 25 pounds, see, communicate verbally, and hear.
  • The candidate must be legally eligible to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
Responsibilities
  • The Contract Referee officiates youth, teen, and adult sporting events, including baseball, basketball, soccer, and volleyball.
  • The Contract Referee provides close supervision of activities to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of children in the program.
  • The Contract Referee ensures that players and coaches follow the general rules of the sport and YMCA-specific rules.
  • The Contract Referee inspects equipment and participants to ensure that safety standards are met.
  • The Contract Referee attends scheduled games punctually and remains for their duration unless prior arrangements have been made with the supervisor.
  • The Contract Referee performs duties in accordance with YMCA policies, goals, mission, values, objectives, safety protocols, member-services guidelines, and non-negotiables.
  • The Contract Referee implements YMCA safety protocols related to branch operations.
  • The Contract Referee immediately reports problems, inappropriate situations, or inappropriate behaviors to the Sports Monitor or Director.
  • The Contract Referee responds to safety and emergency situations and maintains and reports accurate incident and accident forms.
  • The Contract Referee listens to concerns, answers questions, and addresses coaches, players, and parents in a calm, fair, and professional manner.

The Atlanta Voice celebrates 60 years with a Midday Open House of impact & inspiration. The Atlanta Voice opened its doors to the community for a joyful Midday Open House, marking six decades of storytelling, advocacy, and community connection. The celebration was more than an anniversary - it was a vibrant reflection of the publication's mission to inform, uplift, and empower Metro Atlanta. Throughout the afternoon, guests enjoyed a lively drop-in experience that blended nostalgia with forward-thinking energy. From guided peeks into current initiatives to sneak previews of what's launching next, visitors got a firsthand look at how The Atlanta Voice continues to evolve while staying true to its roots. WAREhouse Studio buzzed with conversation as longtime supporters, community partners, and new friends mingled with The Atlanta Voice staff. Laughter and stories filled the air as attendees shared memories of the publication's impact and envisioned the next 60 years together. Light bites, sweet treats, and refreshing drinks kept the celebration flowing, with a special thank you to its incredible vendors - 360 Photo Booth Eventz, World Renowned Catering, Courtney's Creations of Atlanta, and Jailan Jagne - for adding flavor, fun, and flair to the day. "This milestone isn't just about where we've been - it's about where we're headed," said Publisher Janis Ware. "The Atlanta Voice has always been about amplifying the voices of our community, and that mission continues stronger than ever." The Atlanta Voice were deeply honored to welcome Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens, who stopped by to share reflections and gratitude for The Atlanta Voice's legacy of truth-telling and community service. His words inspired the crowd and reminded everyone how local journalism continues to shape the future of its city. The Atlanta Voice also extend heartfelt thanks to Fulton County Commissioner Marvin S. Arrington Jr., who presented an official proclamation recognizing The Atlanta Voice's 60 years of excellence and enduring service to Metro Atlanta. This milestone moment wouldn't have been possible without the generous support and collaboration of its anniversary partners: Centennial Yards, DeKalb County, Anthem Health, Invest Atlanta, and INSPR Media. Your belief in its mission helps power the stories that move Atlanta forward. The Atlanta Voice has partnered with Love Beyond Walls to create a multi-platform initiative to spotlight the complexities of homelessness in Atlanta, through investigative journalism, community forums, feature stories, and creative content. For nearly 55 years, The Atlanta Voice has boldly covered those issues that have affected the African American community. Its founders Mr. J.
