Requirements
  • 4-7+ years of hands-on engineering experience developing, integrating, testing, or operating GNSS, radio-frequency receiver, satellite payload, airborne sensing, or comparable signal-measurement systems.
  • Strong fundamentals in GNSS signals and receiver operation, including acquisition and tracking, carrier-to-noise density ratio, link budgets, sensitivity, observables, and signal-quality metrics.
  • Experience with one or more of the following: GNSS receivers, radio-frequency front ends, antennas, timing references, oscillators, or signal-processing interfaces.
  • Working knowledge of radio-frequency and GNSS performance characterization, calibration, and validation.
  • Understanding of measurement-error sources and performance drivers such as multipath, interference, oscillator stability, timing accuracy, thermal effects, and antenna performance.
  • Familiarity with radio-frequency link-budget, sensitivity, noise, or interference calculations and the ability to contribute to and review these analyses.
  • Experience supporting complex hardware/software integration and test activities.
  • Familiarity with environmental qualification concepts for spacecraft, aerospace, or similarly demanding engineered systems.
  • Awareness of spacecraft-level considerations including electromagnetic interference/electromagnetic compatibility, antenna field of view and placement, pointing and attitude knowledge, thermal environments, radiation, and platform-generated interference.
  • Ability to translate technical and mission-performance goals into clear requirements, interfaces, test approaches, and verification plans.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills when working across engineering and scientific disciplines.
  • A proactive and accountable approach to engineering work, including organizing technical activities, identifying issues, and driving them toward resolution.
  • Sound engineering judgment and willingness to learn, take on increasing ownership, and grow technical depth.
  • The position is restricted to U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and protected individuals unless required export-control licenses are obtained.
Responsibilities
  • Support the development, integration, verification, and on-orbit performance assessment of GNSS payload systems.
  • Translate mission and scientific data needs into payload requirements, interfaces, performance budgets, and verification plans in collaboration with senior engineers and atmospheric scientists.
  • Support GNSS and radio-frequency performance analyses, including link budgets, receiver sensitivity, carrier-to-noise density ratio, signal quality, interference, timing, and measurement-error assessments.
  • Support the design, characterization, and validation of GNSS receivers, radio-frequency front ends, antennas, timing references, and signal-processing interfaces.
  • Evaluate payload performance drivers including antenna gain and patterns, multipath, electromagnetic interference/electromagnetic compatibility, oscillator stability, thermal drift, spacecraft pointing and attitude knowledge, and platform interference.
  • Support payload integration and test activities, including radio-frequency signal simulation, hardware-in-the-loop testing, environmental testing, and test-data analysis.
  • Assess the effects of the space environment, including thermal and radiation impacts on radio-frequency electronics, oscillators, and receiver performance.
  • Work across payload, spacecraft, software, systems, and science teams to identify technical risks and resolve integration and performance issues.
  • Establish and maintain technical requirements, interfaces, verification documentation, test results, and engineering analyses.
  • Support payload activities throughout the lifecycle, from design and integration through launch, commissioning, and on-orbit operations.

Tomorrow.io, a Boston-based weather intelligence provider, has added $35 million to its Series F funding round, bringing the total to $210 million. The additional capital came from existing investor Pitango and Harel Insurance. The funding will accelerate development of Tomorrow.io's DeepSky constellation, which will feature significantly larger satellites than its current Gen1 network of 11 cubesats. The new satellites will carry multiple co-located sensors to gather atmospheric data at higher quality. As a result, the company's Series F round has reached $210 million. The funding follows a $175 million round announced by the company earlier this year and is intended to support the deployment of DeepSky, a commercial satellite constellation built for the AI era, as well as investments in space infrastructure and platform development. The additional capital will be used to accelerate AI capabilities, expand the satellite observation network, and develop the company's agentic AI platform, with the aim of delivering real-time operational intelligence on a global scale. Weather disruptions are increasingly affecting the operations of organizations across a wide range of industries, raising the complexity of decision-making and resource allocation. At the same time, the widespread adoption of AI technologies is creating a growing need for high-quality, proprietary, real-time data.
