Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology, or associate degree with five years of work experience, ideally including hands-on electrical experience.
  • Experience programming programmable logic controllers, including Allen Bradley, Siemens, and Beckhoff products.
  • Understanding of motion controls, programmable logic controllers, servo systems, and troubleshooting of control systems.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN P8, and Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Project.
  • Knowledge of basic electricity and electrical circuits.
  • Ability to direct or supervise electrical subcontractors.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and perform basic engineering calculations.
  • Three to five years of experience developing and implementing automation, electrical design, control system integration, schematics, variable-frequency drives, servo control, three-phase systems, motor control, power distribution, and industrial controls networks.
  • Ability to read, program, and troubleshoot programmable logic controller ladder logic or other programmable logic controller-based machine code.
  • Experience with digital alternating-current and direct-current drives.
  • Experience sizing servo motors and drives.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70 Section 501, the National Electrical Code, UL 508, and standard industry design practices.
  • Experience with assembling, evaluating, testing, and maintaining electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, motors, and drives.
  • Experience with electrical panel design.
  • Experience with frequency-drive programming.
  • Indefinite United States work authorization is required.
Responsibilities
  • Design complete automation packages, including schematics, programmable logic controllers, motion systems, and programming.
  • Generate and manage electrical drawings and sketches for fabricating, installing, and commissioning customer-defined systems.
  • Select and program programmable logic controllers, maintain and modify drawings, develop controls narratives, and assist with operating manuals.
  • Develop project programming for programmable logic controllers, human-machine interfaces, and servo drives.
  • Configure functionality and communication with customer control systems using EtherCAT, PROFINET, and EtherNet/IP.
  • Size motors, drives, and overloads.
  • Work with safety controls and circuits, including calculating loads, fault current, and voltage drop.
  • Perform final acceptance testing, system checkouts, and point-to-point checkouts of electrical and control systems.
  • Select and sometimes assemble cables, cable trays, and conduit.
  • Interface with customers to resolve discrepancies in specifications and drawings.
  • Troubleshoot field problems and answer operation and troubleshooting questions from customers, sales representatives, and field service technicians.
  • Develop and monitor schedules and job costs for assigned projects.
  • Review customer specifications and develop automation-package bills of materials and estimates for Sales and Aftermarket Parts.
  • Work with Sales, Engineers, and potential customers to determine optimal application solutions.
  • Estimate design and execution time and provide written narratives for sales proposals.
  • Travel to customer and vendor locations as needed.
  • Develop, maintain, and modify drawings supporting standard offerings and customer applications.
  • Implement engineering standards and tools.
