Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent education is preferred.
  • One year of experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job, as determined through ongoing skills, competency assessments, and performance evaluations.
  • Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English to perform essential job functions, particularly activities affecting patient or employee safety or security.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, family members, and coworkers using a customer-service focus and positive language principles.
  • Ability to access information within the department and hospital system as appropriate.
  • Ability to multitask and complete work within designated time frames.
  • Ability to perform duties accurately and efficiently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain environmental and infection control standards within established policies and procedures.
  • Perform general cleaning tasks in assigned areas to provide a safe and attractive environment for patients, guests, and staff.
  • Interact positively and professionally with patients, families, and staff.
  • Participate actively in meetings, huddles, and team activities using positive communication.
  • Contribute to a positive, team-focused work environment to achieve optimal results.
  • Respond promptly and positively to requests for assistance with directions and information from patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Respond promptly to assignments to create an environment conducive to healing.
  • Perform efficient room-cleaning processes to support timely patient admissions.
  • Follow department processes for room cleaning and discharge inspections, with the goal of meeting or exceeding HCAHPS cleanliness scores.
  • Achieve discharge, daily room-cleaning, and assigned-area turnaround times as appropriate.
  • Track and log equipment safety and repair needs during discharge activity and notify appropriate management.
  • Follow policies, procedures, and safety rules; observe standard infection-control precautions; and comply with Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards.
  • Communicate and document facility- or patient-related issues to management and correct minor safety hazards.
  • Use and store chemicals, paper goods, supplies, and equipment appropriately during a shift.
  • Manage time effectively and prioritize daily department tasks to minimize incidental overtime.
  • Assume responsibility for professional growth and development and participate in continuing education and in-service programs.
  • Contribute ideas to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of department processes.
