Planet 13 opens Sarasota dispensary in Florida's affluent coastal market

Planet 13 Holdings announced it will open a new cannabis dispensary in Sarasota, Florida on 21 August 2026. The 2,600-square-foot store will be located at 2460 Stickney Point Road, along a high-traffic retail corridor near the route to Siesta Key beaches. The vertically integrated multi-state cannabis company said the location targets an affluent coastal market with year-round residential demand and seasonal visitor traffic. Co-CEO Bob Groesbeck stated the area's mature, healthcare-oriented demographic aligns with Florida's medical cannabis programme. The dispensary follows Planet 13's capital-efficient Florida store model, combining low build-out costs with premium retail standards. The opening forms part of the company's broader Florida expansion strategy focused on increasing market density and driving margin expansion. Planet 13 operates dispensaries, cultivation and production facilities across Nevada, Illinois and Florida.

Planet 13 reports Q1 2026 revenue of $21.1M, posts $8.1M net loss amid strategic restructuring

Planet 13 Holdings, a multi-state cannabis company, reported first-quarter 2026 revenue of $21.1 million, down 24.8% year-over-year, as it announced financial results for the three months ended 31 March. The company posted a net loss of $8.1 million and an adjusted EBITDA loss of $2.3 million. The revenue decline was driven by the company's exit from California retail and wholesale operations and continued price compression in Nevada and Florida. However, gross profit margin improved to 44.6% from 42.8%, whilst total expenses decreased 19% to $15.1 million due to cost-cutting initiatives. Co-CEO Larry Scheffler described the quarter as transitional, following strategic restructuring including the California exit and Nevada consolidation. Co-CEO Bob Groesbeck highlighted favourable federal developments, including medical rescheduling rules effective April 2026.
