About the job

Requirements
  • Hold a train driver’s license with a valid supplementary certificate and have at least three years of professional experience, excluding training time.
  • Have strong command of railway operating regulations, ideally including European regulations and regulations in neighboring countries.
  • Meet fitness requirements under the TfV and hold at least a Realschulabschluss.
  • Provide verifiable German language skills at a minimum C1 level.
  • Have at least 100 hours of train-driving experience in the calendar year and hold a car driver's license.
  • Be willing to travel throughout Germany and work weekends, public holidays, and nights, and take on on-call duties.
  • Have experience interacting with passengers and handling safety-critical situations.
  • Demonstrate communication sensitivity when dealing with employees and authorities.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct operational checks and monitoring journeys, and evaluate driving data in accordance with safety objectives.
  • Manage qualification records, including maintaining the operational file for operating personnel assigned to train services.
  • Issue and manage travel authorizations, route and location familiarization assignments, and the associated supplementary certificates.
  • Spot-check duty rosters and shifts for compliance with driving and rest time requirements and planning rules under the BRW.
  • Participate in accident and incident investigations, take on the railway undertaking emergency duty, and act as an examiner under FlixTrain GmbH’s examination regulations.
  • Contribute to developing the safety management system and operating regulations, and maintain internal digital safety applications.
  • As part of ECM duties, verify compliance with legal and internal ECM requirements for the safe operation of vehicles.
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of European railway regulations and regulations in neighboring countries is desirable.
