Requirements
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology is required for this position
  • Suggested minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as an electrical/mechanical engineer or related position
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to travel <50%
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment drug test (do not test for THC / marijuana)
Responsibilities
  • Primary contact for all technical inquiries and interface for assigned projects.
  • Aid in project management by overseeing technical aspects of all bid packs/bidding process.
  • Help project managers identify scope, track costs/schedule, ensure standards/quality are being met throughout duration of project.
  • Provide electrical cost estimates for new construction and maintenance projects.
  • Direct and/or develop design concepts and models from product specifications within cost and budget goals.
  • Responsible for coordinating all engineering efforts, to meet budget and schedule, for assigned projects.
  • Provide quality assurance on all projects
  • Mark up as built redlines to drawings upon completion of projects.
  • Review/approve requested project design change orders.
  • Ability to read and review P&IDs and electrical drawings such as one-line diagrams, panel wiring diagrams, instrument wiring diagrams
  • Create electrical layout and design drawings of power, control, and communication systems using various AutoCAD products such as AutoCAD Electrical and AutoCAD Plant 3D
  • Provide selection and specification of power distribution equipment (transformers, switchgear, OCPDs, power cables), motor control equipment (contactors, overloads, soft starts, VFDs), and Instrumentation & Control equipment (PLCs, HMI, Level/Flow/Pressure measurement devices)
  • Apply NFPA 70 to all electrical designs to ensure compliance in the project permitting stage to final inspections
  • Design, implement, retrofit, and program PLCs using RS Logix 500, RS Logix 5000, and Studio 5000 software.
  • Integrate networking and field devices using communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP/IP, Modbus RTU/RS-485/RS-232, radio and fiber optic communications
  • Design, implement, and maintain SCADA systems
  • Design and implement HMIs using software such as Wonderware InTouch, C-more, Factory Talk View (Allen-Bradley PanelView)
  • Monitor and analyze equipment and system performance using data queries and trends
  • Be available as on-call support to work with maintenance team to troubleshoot equipment and system failures
  • Perform calculations
  • Checking and approval of drawing packages and calculations
  • Participate in design reviews for projects to ensure quality design output.
  • Maintain the drawing database and vault to ensure a consolidated record of all projects is kept.
  • Confer with engineering management and project engineers on problems encountered and questions arising on projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.
