Maintenance Controls Specialist

The Maintenance Controls Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and optimal performance of our manufacturing equipment and systems. This position involves a combination of technical expertise in control systems, electrical engineering, and maintenance practices within a food manufacturing environment.
Pay Range $47-$50 per hour DOQ
Sign on bonus paid $2500 at hire and $2500 after 6 months

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Control Systems Management:

o Maintain control systems for various manufacturing equipment and processes.

o Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces), SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems, and other automation components.

o Optimize control strategies to enhance equipment efficiency, reliability, and safety.

· Electrical Systems Maintenance:

o Conduct preventive maintenance tasks on electrical systems, including motors, drives, sensors, and other electrical components.

o Diagnose and repair electrical faults to minimize downtime and ensure uninterrupted production.

o Collaborate with the maintenance team to develop and execute maintenance schedules and procedures.

· Safety and Compliance:

o Adhere to all relevant safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe working environment.

o Perform regular safety inspections and participate in safety training programs.

o Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements related to electrical and control systems.

· Continuous Improvement:

o Identify opportunities for process optimization and automation to improve productivity and reduce costs.

o Implement upgrades and modifications to existing control systems to enhance performance and reliability.

· Documentation and Reporting:

o Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and troubleshooting efforts.

o Document control system configurations, wiring diagrams, and other technical documentation as needed.

· Flexibility to work non-standard hours as needed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Performs other duties as assigned

Education/Certifications and Experience:

· High school diploma or GED, required.

· Technical or Associate Degree, Electrical Journeyman’s License, or certificate in related trades, preferred.

· Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field, is a plus.

· At least 1 year of related experience in a manufacturing environment.

· Proven experience in maintenance and troubleshooting of control systems in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the food industry.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

· Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens), HMI development, and SCADA systems.

· Strong understanding of electrical systems, including motors, drives, and industrial sensors.

· Knowledge of safety standards and regulations related to electrical and control systems.

· Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

· Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.

· Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

· Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and learn new technologies as needed.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

· Work involves daily and frequent exposure to unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, fumes, odors, darkness and/or poor lighting, noise, and vibration. Seasonal exposure to weather elements to include, but not limited to, extreme temperatures, wetness, and humidity.

· Work environment involves daily exposure to physical risks and hazards, such as working around mechanical equipment, mechanical hazards, forklifts, chemical hazards, electrical hazards, fire and explosives hazards, communicable diseases.

· Position requires the ability to stand; walking around office, warehouse, and plant; lifting and carrying packages up to 50 pounds; utilizing fine dexterity; and reaching, kneeling, crawling, and twisting on a daily basis.
