Requirements
  • A minimum of a GED or high school diploma.
  • A minimum of two years working in a cement manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Documented experience in organization, human relations, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Kronos, and Oracle.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise all hourly employees in the yard crew.
  • Recommend equipment, personnel, and safety issues to the Production Superintendent.
  • Investigate and report all accidents involving employees and equipment, and promote safe working and good housekeeping habits.
  • Maintain current knowledge of collective bargaining agreements and company policies, and promote cost and profit consciousness among employees.
  • Oversee all equipment and personnel used to maintain the grounds in and around the production areas.
  • Take responsibility for areas assigned by the superintendent and management.
  • Direct the removal of process spills and leaks and the upkeep of buildings, grounds, and plant property.
  • Direct maintenance of streets inside the plant.
  • Care for and maintain small mobile equipment, including bobcats, sweepers, pickup trucks, and hand tools used in plant housekeeping.
  • Make daily operating decisions regarding overtime scheduling, write work requests and work orders, and report maintenance issues to the maintenance department.
  • Support production operations with yard personnel as necessary.
  • Conduct close supervision, progress monitoring, and training of all new employees.
  • Continue self-improvement activities in ground maintenance and supervision of hourly employees.
  • Perform other activities requested by the production superintendent and management that are consistent with this job classification.
