Requirements
  • A master's degree in nursing or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • At least one year of directly related experience serving as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner is required.
  • Certification as a Nurse Practitioner, licensure as a Registered Nurse, and CPR certification are required.
Responsibilities
  • Perform history, psychosocial, and physical examinations; diagnose acute and chronic conditions; formulate therapeutic plans of care; order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests; manage medications; and provide education to patients and their families.
  • Coordinate patients' mental health care to provide safe, effective, efficient, timely, and patient-centered care, including liaison between clinical staff and consult services.
  • Develop and execute care plans encompassing the entire service and consult with physicians and other healthcare team members regarding patients with complex diagnoses.
  • Work collaboratively with other health professionals to determine the health needs of patients and families and coordinate patient care plans with the integrated behavioral healthcare team.
  • Document patient care and clinical encounters clearly, precisely, and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and monitor patient records, assess healthcare needs, and provide patient education.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for staff through formal and informal consultation and education, literature review, and participation in seminars, conferences, and simulation.
  • Collaborate with psychiatry physicians.
  • Promote cost savings and an optimal patient experience in mental health care.
  • Apply, model, and teach evidence-based Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral for Treatment (SBIRT) in the clinical setting.
  • Participate in rapid-cycle continuous process improvement.
  • Participate in scholarly projects as appropriate.
  • Serve on committees, provide presentations, and participate in divisional staff development.
  • Participate in grant data reporting.
  • Provide Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) for Substance Use Disorders (SUD).
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior experience in Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT).
  • Bilingual capability.
  • Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certification.
