Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in health informatics, nursing, public health, health administration, biomedical informatics, healthcare management, or a related field.
  • At least 6 years of experience in health informatics, clinical workflow analysis, healthcare operations, digital health, clinical research support, or related work.
  • Strong healthcare interviewing, observation, process mapping, workflow documentation, and stakeholder-engagement skills.
  • Experience with clinical or operational measures, pilot observation, sensitive health information, and cross-functional implementation teams.
  • Ability to satisfy VA personnel vetting and requirements for privacy, security, records, and sensitive health information.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting qualitative or workflow research in healthcare settings and translating observations into process maps, requirements, evidence summaries, or implementation recommendations.
  • Strong facilitation and relationship-building skills with clinicians, administrators, operational staff, technical teams, and other stakeholders with varied perspectives and availability.
  • Ability to recognize potential patient or Veteran safety, privacy, workload, usability, or human-oversight concerns and escalate them without exceeding the role's clinical decision authority.
  • Strong organization and analytical discipline for managing interview notes, process maps, findings, requirements, action items, and traceability across multiple concurrent clinical workstreams.
  • Comfort using common collaboration, process-mapping, presentation, and data tools to create clear artifacts for clinicians, analysts, designers, engineers, and program leaders.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct clinical stakeholder interviews, workflow observation, contextual inquiry, and structured discovery.
  • Document users, steps, decision points, information inputs, handoffs, pain points, burden, failure modes, and intended outcomes.
  • Support baseline development, measure definitions, data-source identification, and interpretation of clinical context.
  • Observe pilots and implementation activities; capture adoption barriers, unintended effects, workload changes, and user feedback.
  • Create workflow maps, evidence notes, requirements, and implementation observations for human-centered design, data, and technical teams.
  • Coordinate with clinicians, human-centered design and user-experience teams, data analysts, engineers, and program staff across multiple concurrent efforts.
  • Escalate material clinical workflow, safety, usability, or human-oversight concerns to senior clinical leadership.
  • Maintain traceable documentation and reusable workflow lessons for future VA initiatives.
  • Plan and conduct structured interviews and observations with representative users across roles, locations, shifts, or care settings so findings reflect meaningful variation.
  • Develop current-state and future-state process maps that capture exceptions, rework, handoffs, decision points, information sources, timing, dependencies, and where technology changes could add or reduce burden.
  • Translate clinical workflow findings into user needs, acceptance considerations, measure definitions, requirements, risks, and implementation questions for technical and program teams.
  • Support adoption and implementation analysis by documenting training needs, role changes, local variation, unintended workarounds, support issues, and conditions affecting successful use.
  • Coordinate with specialty clinicians and operational subject-matter experts to validate findings, clarify exceptions, and ensure artifacts reflect affected roles and care settings.
  • Support requirements and acceptance development by connecting observed workflow needs to representative scenarios, user roles, edge cases, measures, and implementation conditions to test.
Desired Qualifications
  • Recommended certification: CPHIMS, AHIC, Lean Six Sigma, or a relevant clinical or informatics credential; an active clinical license is valued where applicable.
  • At least 8 years of experience in VA/VHA, federal health, digital health, healthcare operations, clinical informatics, or workflow transformation.
  • Experience with clinical decision support, workflow automation, AI-enabled tools, implementation science, usability research, or quality improvement.
  • Experience supporting clinical pilots, adoption measurement, or workflow redesign across multiple care settings.
  • Additional nursing informatics, clinical informatics, CPHIMS/AHIC, PMP, or Lean Six Sigma certification.
  • Direct experience with EHR-enabled workflows, ambulatory or inpatient operations, specialty care, contact centers, clinical documentation, or other complex healthcare processes.

Former Booz Allen executive Graham Evans joins LMI as president of national security. * Graham Evans will oversee LMI's defense and intelligence business * He brings more than 16 years of experience at Booz Allen Hamilton * Evans most recently led AI and platform work at Booz Allen's defense technology group LMI named long-time Booz Allen Hamilton executive Graham Evans president of national security, the executive announced on LinkedIn Friday. Evans will oversee the company's defense and intelligence business. Who is Graham Evans? Evans is a data platform and enterprise analytics executive with extensive experience helping defense customers put cloud-based analytics to work and adopt technologies such as open architectures, machine learning and DevSecOps. In the new role, he will focus on helping defense, space and national security clients field new capabilities faster by leveraging mission, technology, program delivery and growth functions. What experience does Evans bring? Evans spent more than 16 years at Booz Allen Hamilton before joining LMI. He most recently served as senior vice president in the company's defense technology group, overseeing artificial intelligence and platform work for senior defense customers throughout the enterprise. He also served as vice president, principal and director. He joined Booz Allen in 2010 as a senior associate, a role he held for more than nine years. During his tenure at Booz Allen, his work covered AI, enterprise analytics, rapid software development and reusable products for national security missions, as well as enterprise architecture, agile development, DevOps and data science. Evans pointed to LMI's SHEPRD threat management tool as an example of the company's approach to developing defense technology when announcing his appointment. He said SHEPRD brought threat data, asset locations, terrain and protection coverage together in a real-time common operating picture during Ivy Sting. The tool, which was recently launched at the Department of War Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office's Tradewinds Solutions Marketplace, was built alongside soldiers and refined under real-world conditions. SHEPRD was also part of LMI's rapid development work for the Army's Next Generation Command and Control environment, providing a direct example of the type of defense technology Evans will oversee as president of national security. Evans started his career as a systems engineer at Gibbs & Cox.
