Requirements

Responsibilities
  • Install electrical systems in commercial construction markets at job sites and small or medium project locations.
  • Supervise and coordinate assigned helper and apprentice electricians on a per-job basis.
  • Promote excellent customer relations, determine customer needs, and provide solutions.
  • Report to the project worksite on time and ready to work.
  • Apply basic electrical and construction principles and practices to solve design, development, and modification problems involving provided parts and assemblies.
  • Complete work in accordance with national and local electrical codes, and remain current with revisions to the National Electrical Code.
  • Complete work in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Fulfill daily commitments and maintain the project schedule as directed by the job-site foreman.
  • Load materials, dig trenches, pull wire through conduit, and perform other tasks needed to complete projects.
  • Maintain respectful interactions with customers, other trades personnel, vendors, and coworkers.
  • Keep the job site clean and clutter-free.
  • Complete and submit required paperwork, including timecards.
  • Follow the company safety policy, program, and training, and hold others accountable to them.
  • Troubleshoot common electrical systems, including services, feeders, and branch circuits.
  • Plan new or modified installations to minimize material waste, provide future maintenance access, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, or unreliable wiring in accordance with specifications and local electrical codes.
  • Prepare sketches showing wiring and equipment locations, or follow diagrams and blueprints, ensuring concealed wiring is installed before walls, ceilings, and flooring are completed.
  • Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit.
  • Splice wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps.
  • Connect wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment.
  • Install control and distribution apparatus, including switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels.
  • Connect power cables to equipment such as electric ranges or motors, and install grounding leads.
  • Observe installed equipment or systems to detect hazards and determine whether adjustments, relocation, or replacement are needed.
  • Repair faulty equipment or systems.
  • Perform small electrical projects as a service electrician.
  • Travel as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
