  • At least 3 years of practical experience in the medical field.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential is required.
  • Phlebotomy Certification is required.
  • Patient Care Technician (PCT) Certification is required.
Responsibilities
  • Secure and manage a network of externship sites for Medical Assistant students, ensuring a variety of placement opportunities.
  • Achieve and maintain a minimum 40% extern-to-hire conversion rate across assigned sites.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor student performance, address concerns, and maintain relationships with externship partners.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and accreditation requirements, including Texas Workforce Commission regulations.
  • Collaborate with Career Services and Placement teams to support students’ transition from externship to employment.
  • Provide guidance to students regarding attendance, professionalism, and performance expectations during externships.
  • Conduct externship orientations and assist students with resume writing and interview preparation.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including timecards, evaluations, and affiliation agreements.
  • Track student progress throughout the externship and ensure completion of final evaluations and exit interviews.
  • Promote the externship program through outreach and networking within the medical community.
