Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training from an accredited university is required.
  • Graduation from a college or university accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education is required.
  • An unrestricted state license, registration, or certification in an applicable regulated jurisdiction is required to provide healthcare within the Athletic Trainer scope of practice.
  • A passing score from the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer is required.
  • A National Provider Identifier is required.
  • At least two years of relevant Athletic Trainer work experience within the last three years is required.
  • Experience working with high school, collegiate, or professional sports, military, performing arts, and/or occupational health is required.
  • Experience developing and executing environment-specific functional injury control and health and well-being programs for groups of athletes is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • The candidate must pass a background check and drug screen and maintain current physical and immunizations.
  • The candidate must be able to lift and manipulate loads or weights up to 20 kilograms or 45 pounds.
  • The candidate must be able to work a 40-hour workweek and/or 80 hours within a two-week period, including variable schedules and occasional weekends.
Responsibilities
  • Provide forward musculoskeletal care, early medical intervention, injury prevention, and performance optimization services in fitness centers, brigade and battalion areas, outdoor and field training environments, ranges, and the Soldier Performance Readiness Center.
  • Partner with physical therapists, occupational therapists, nutritionists, strength and conditioning coaches, and cognitive performance specialists to support Holistic Health and Fitness and brigade mission objectives.
  • Deliver prevention-focused care, acute injury management, and rehabilitation for musculoskeletal injuries.
  • Implement performance optimization strategies addressing the physical, mental, nutritional, sleep, and spiritual Holistic Health and Fitness domains.
  • Improve soldier performance, Army Combat Fitness Test pass rates, and resilience across the unit.
  • Observe brigade and subordinate training events, including shooting ranges, obstacle courses, and combative training areas.
  • Communicate with trainees, staff, and other Athletic Trainers orally and in writing.
  • Prepare, teach, and share educational materials to reduce and mitigate injuries and improve soldier performance.
  • Document patient care using proprietary healthcare and government software.
  • Participate in government-based education and in-service training mandated by the local installation.
  • Complete continuing education programs to meet Athletic Trainer license or certification renewal requirements.
