  • A Master's degree is required.
  • Five years of progressively responsible staff experience in a related field, including at least two years in a Supervisor, Manager, or Director role.
  • For Houston Methodist employees, five years of progressively responsible staff experience in a related field, including at least two years in a role demonstrating progressive leadership responsibility.
  • Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.

Responsibilities
  • Identify growth opportunities and develop business plans that support operational growth, profitability, quality, and market share.
  • Identify and recommend strategic physician recruitment or alignment opportunities and partner with Physician Organization leadership and the CEO on medical staff development, physician contracts, and engagement strategies.
  • Direct community outreach programs and community engagement strategies.
  • Develop, implement, and measure marketing and communications plans supporting facility objectives and the system brand strategy.
  • Oversee department staff activities and ensure quality, productivity, functional excellence, and efficiency.
  • Manage employee engagement, staffing levels, budgets, hiring, termination, performance coaching, counseling, training, and policies and procedures.
  • Direct strategic and operational projects and processes through autonomous work or facilitated work teams.
  • Oversee staff development and direct employee selection, scheduling, supervision, retention, and evaluation.
  • Conduct department meetings, employee rounding, performance appraisals, new-hire feedback sessions, corrective counseling, and employee recognition.
  • Build strategic relationships across teams, departments, units, physician groups, hospital leadership, and community leaders.
  • Facilitate resolution of physician-related hospital-operation issues and lead physician onboarding and relationship-building initiatives.
  • Oversee department operations, projects, schedules, priorities, and functional standards.
  • Direct planning and organization of community outreach and engagement strategies.
  • Develop and implement physician recruiting or alignment and physician-contract strategies in line with the Medical Staff Development Plan.
  • Develop and implement measurable, facility-specific marketing plans responsive to market trends and aligned with the brand strategy.
  • Collaborate with system Marketing and Communication on local and system clinical service-line marketing plans.
  • Maintain a safe and effective working environment and monitor department safety, accreditation, and regulatory requirements.
  • Improve department workflow and operations through collaboration, peer accountability, process improvements, lean principles, and situational-awareness practices.
  • Ensure employee compliance with policies, procedures, credentials, competencies, licensing, safety, timekeeping, and related requirements.
  • Develop and manage department operational and capital budgets, approvals, staffing plans, and schedules.
  • Create strategies to achieve financial targets and staffing needs through productivity and resource-efficiency improvements.
  • Develop business and capitalize on market opportunities through relationships with physicians, customers, and the community.
  • Identify and implement innovative workflow and practice solutions and lead projects, task forces, and committees.
  • Drive change initiatives and partner with stakeholders through changes in responsibilities, structures, processes, requirements, or cultures.
  • Conduct staff development and individual development-plan conversations.
  • Partner with management to maintain knowledge of operational and corporate strategy supporting physician and market strategy.
