About the company

Compared with peers, Enbridge combines a large, integrated pipeline network with a growing portfolio of renewable generation, underpinned by long-term contracts that provide predictable revenue. Its commitments to safety and sustainability, including a goal to reach net-zero emissions by 2050, guide its operations and corporate strategy. Overall, Enbridge aims to keep energy flowing safely and reliably while supporting the transition to cleaner energy.

Enbridge isolates East Tennessee gas line after rupture in Overton County, prompting evacuations.

Enbridge isolates East Tennessee gas line after rupture in Overton County, prompting evacuations. October 23, 2026 A rupture on Enbridge's East Tennessee Natural Gas pipeline in Overton County, Tennessee, prompted a 1.5-mile evacuation. No fire or explosion occurred. (P&GJ) - Enbridge isolated a section of its East Tennessee Natural Gas (ETNG) pipeline after a rupture in the Muddy Pond area of Overton County, Tennessee, on Wednesday morning, prompting a precautionary 1.5-mile evacuation. Overton County emergency services were notified of the gas release at 10:28 a.m., according to County Executive Austin Dodson. Workers were on site at the time, and NewsChannel 5 reported that the incident involved a new pipeline under construction. The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency initially reported an explosion but later said responders "were able to confirm there was no fire or explosion." Overton County EMS said 21 people were evaluated at the scene and released, and no one was taken to the hospital. The evacuation order was lifted after the scene was secured. Wilson Elementary School closed temporarily, and buses did not run. "Everyone is safe now and we are thankful this wasn't worse," Dodson said. An Enbridge spokesperson said there was "no risk to the public at this time" and confirmed the ETNG pipeline had been isolated. The company has not said what caused the rupture, how much gas was released or what cleanup is planned. The incident remains under investigation.

Retirees swap Social Security for 5 dividend stocks yielding up to 6.64%

Retirees looking for income beyond Social Security are turning to dividend stocks. The 2027 cost-of-living adjustment is tracking toward 3.3%, and five companies from different industries were screened for dividend safety first, then yield. Verizon yields 6.64% and Altria 6.17%. Verizon's free cash flow guidance of $21.94 billion to $22.14 billion covers its roughly $11.76 billion annual dividend. Altria's payout is about 79% of the low end of its 2026 earnings guidance. Realty Income pays monthly at a 5.99% yield and has raised its dividend 115 consecutive quarters. Enbridge yields 5.95%. AbbVie yields 2.48%, but its quarterly dividend has grown from $0.40 in 2013 to $1.73 in 2026. Risks include satellite competition for Verizon, falling cigarette volumes for Altria, and currency swings for Enbridge.
