Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent experience in a scientific or engineering field, or a Master of Science degree with six years of experience.
  • At least eight years of experience leading teams in the development and commercialization of medical device products, or six years with a Master of Science degree.
  • Strong project and program management, planning, decision-making, negotiating, communication, and change-management skills.
  • Experience developing highly complex medical device products through Design Controls, including capital equipment and consumables, with demonstrated success launching products after completing product development cycles.
  • Ability to cultivate collaboration across department boundaries and influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
  • Ability to recognize critical issues, react quickly under pressure, and drive issues to closure through coordinated direction.
Responsibilities
  • Lead cross-functional project teams for product development and product improvements.
  • Ensure Design Control processes are followed according to relevant procedures.
  • Ensure complex, high-value business-unit projects are properly scoped, resourced, and communicated to minimize risk and deliver on time and on budget.
  • Organize and manage team meetings, design review meetings, and phase-gate review meetings.
  • Create and maintain project schedules.
  • Develop and monitor project budgets.
  • Communicate project status, critical path, and potential areas of risk to the organization.
  • Plan and track the creation of project design-history documents by project teams.
  • Work with Operations and Manufacturing management to determine strategies for product cut-ins and roll-ins.
  • Define and align project goals with business-unit and corporate objectives, and organize and prioritize team work to accomplish those objectives.
  • Support functional managers and team members in planning and executing activities required to achieve project goals.
  • Support resource-demand planning, including estimating project work efforts, needs, roles, and responsibilities.
  • Communicate project priorities, deliverables, and milestones to the PMO, cross-functional team members, business-unit management, and shared-services management.
  • Coordinate with other project managers driving overall product-development programs to understand goals, scope, and timelines and help functional managers negotiate resources and schedules.
  • Facilitate best-practice sharing and feedback within the PMO organization and identify process improvements.

Intuitive leases 316,000-sq-ft facility in Penang to manufacture surgical instruments, create 1,200 jobs by 2032

Intuitive, the global leader in minimally invasive care and pioneer of robotic-assisted surgery, has signed a lease agreement with Penang Development Corporation for a new manufacturing facility in Malaysia. The 316,000-square-foot site in Bandar Cassia Technology Park will produce surgical instruments and electromechanical devices for Intuitive's da Vinci surgical system. The facility is expected to begin operations in 2028 and create 1,200 highly skilled jobs by 2032. The investment reflects Intuitive's commitment to Asia Pacific, where its da Vinci systems have treated more than 2.5 million patients across 13 markets over two decades. The expansion aims to support growing demand for robotic-assisted surgery across the region and strengthen Penang's position as a MedTech manufacturing hub in Southeast Asia.
