Job Description:
Xylem is seeking an experienced and dynamic Sales Manager to lead a team of sales professionals focused on selling Xylem’s Heavy Industry solutions within the Central United States Region. Heavy Industry includes upstream oil and gas, oil refining, petrochemical, power, pulp & paper, food & mining. This role is critical to driving the sales growth and profitability of the organization by developing and executing effective sales strategies that align with corporate goals. The Sales Manager will be responsible for managing the team’s performance, coaching and mentoring sales staff, and ensuring customer satisfaction and retention.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales Strategy Development & Implementation:
- Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies tailored to the Heavy Industry solutions market in the Central United States Region.
- Align sales objectives with organizational goals, ensuring a clear path to achieving revenue targets, profitability, and customer loyalty.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, while nurturing existing customer relationships to ensure long-term satisfaction and retention.
Team Leadership & Management:
- Lead, supervise, and motivate a high-performance sales team to achieve and exceed sales targets.
- Recruit, hire, train, and develop sales professionals, ensuring they have the tools and resources needed for success.
- Provide ongoing coaching, performance reviews, and professional development to maximize individual and team potential.
- Foster a collaborative and results-driven culture to enhance overall team performance.
Sales Forecasting & Reporting:
- Provide accurate and timely sales forecasting, offering data-driven insights to support strategic planning and decision-making.
- Monitor sales performance metrics, identifying trends and areas of improvement to drive better results.
Customer Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Collaborate with the customer service and operations teams to resolve any customer issues promptly and effectively.
Process Improvement:
- Continuously evaluate existing sales processes, tools, and methodologies to identify areas for improvement.
- Implement best practices and process enhancements to streamline sales operations, improve efficiency, and enhance customer experience.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with other departments, including marketing, product development, and customer support, to ensure alignment and maximize the effectiveness of sales campaigns and initiatives.
- Share insights and market intelligence with senior leadership to inform business development and product strategies.
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing, or a related field. MBA is a plus.
- Qualified candidate must have extensive heavy industry water treatment knowledge.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in sales management, preferably within the industrial, engineering, or heavy equipment sectors.
- Proven track record of successfully managing sales teams and achieving sales growth in a competitive environment.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team-building skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation abilities.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret sales data and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities.
- Technical Expertise:
- Familiarity with Xylem’s Heavy Industry solutions, products, and services is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of CRM tools and sales forecasting software.
*This is a salary plus incentive compensation structure. Potential target total compensation range for this role is $220K-$266K and is commensurate with experience.
