Taktile raises $190M as AI agents outperform human analysts at SMB underwriting

Taktile, a Berlin-based decision platform for financial services, has raised $190 million in total funding, including a recent $120 million Series C led by Goldman Sachs. The company serves customers across 27 countries. Taktile's platform combines a decision engine, data marketplace, and agent platform to automate critical banking decisions like onboarding, KYC, credit underwriting, fraud detection, and transaction monitoring. The company initially launched as a horizontal MLOps platform in 2020 but pivoted after major tech companies released competing products. Co-founder and CEO Maik Taro Wehmeyer says AI agents now outperform humans at specific tasks like financial spreading for SMB underwriting, a process that failed to automate for three years until recently. However, the company maintains human oversight for final decisions, particularly in regulated areas like anti-money laundering. The company gained attention for placing a 300-pound bronze lobster statue in front of Wall Street's Charging Bull, generating 20 million views on social media.
