  • Mentor senior engineering staff, conduct design and system reviews, and foster continuous learning, technical curiosity, and experimentation.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, Design, Security, and Cloud Infrastructure stakeholders to translate product visions into scalable technical architectures.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex system anomalies, and establish automated logging, telemetry, and debugging workflows to support platform reliability.
  • Adhere to Yahoo policies, exercise sound judgment, work effectively, safely, and inclusively with others, meet expectations, and safeguard business operations and brand integrity.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience designing, deploying, and operating highly distributed, large-scale mail applications and standard communication protocols.
  • Familiarity with secure LLM endpoints and frameworks, such as AWS Bedrock or SageMaker, for metadata tagging, intelligent search, or backend telemetry analysis.
  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines, containerization using Docker and Kubernetes, and modern test automation frameworks.
  • Practical experience with GCP or AWS cloud architectures, particularly hybrid cloud migrations and cloud resource efficiency.
  • Commitment to agile engineering practices such as Scrum or Kanban, including driving workflow improvements and retrospective alignment.

Yahoo raises $1.6B with 11% bond yield as Apollo-backed firm refinances debt

Yahoo has raised $1.6 billion in high-yield financing to refinance debt from Apollo Global Management's acquisition of the company. The deal comprises a $700 million term loan B priced at 6.5 percentage points over the US benchmark and $900 million in junk bonds due in 2031 at an 11% yield. The 11% yield represents one of the highest-yielding corporate debt offerings this year, significantly above the 7.2% average for existing B-rated bonds. The refinancing replaces loans from Apollo's 2021 $5 billion buyout of Yahoo from Verizon Communications, which were priced more favourably at 5.5 percentage points over benchmark. Moody's Ratings noted concerns about Yahoo's reliance on desktop traffic and competition from larger players in search advertising, though the deal attracted strong investor interest amid broader high-yield issuance.

Executives at Yahoo!, which owned a 40 percent stake in the Chinese e-commerce giant, were under the gun from their own investors to cut corporate debt and extract value from their prized asset, and they wanted to sell down their stake. The problem: The Alibaba executives were struggling to find buyers.
