Requirements
  • B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in spacecraft GNC/ACS development, including full lifecycle flight programs.
  • Demonstrated ownership of a spacecraft attitude and/or orbit control system through design, integration, and flight.
  • Deep expertise in rigid-body dynamics, orbital mechanics, estimation theory, and modern control methods.
  • Strong experience with thruster-based ACS architectures and propulsion-coupled control systems.
  • Proven ability to independently architect GNC systems and make system-level trade decisions.
  • Experience implementing flight algorithms in C++, Python, or MATLAB/Simulink, with awareness of real-time constraints.
  • Experience integrating GNC with flight software and avionics, including SIL/HIL validation.
  • Ability to analyze telemetry and diagnose complex on-orbit or integrated system anomalies.
  • Systems-level thinking across propulsion, avionics, software, and mission design.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership and mentorship experience.
  • Comfort operating in a fast-paced, hardware-integrated environment with evolving mission needs.
  • To comply with U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including ITAR, applicants must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual under 8 U.S.C. §1324b(a)(3), or otherwise eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
Responsibilities
  • Own the end-to-end GNC/ACS architecture from concept development through flight operations.
  • Own GNC subsystem level requirements.
  • Lead spacecraft attitude and control system design, including actuator sizing, sensor selection, control authority, and momentum management strategy.
  • Define and implement control laws for high-ΔV maneuvering, precision pointing, station-keeping, and proximity operations.
  • Architect state estimation frameworks (EKF/UKF, sensor fusion pipelines, covariance management) for robust on-orbit performance.
  • Develop and maintain high-fidelity 6DOF spacecraft simulation environments for analysis, trade studies, verification, and anomaly resolution.
  • Establish GNC verification and validation strategy across analysis, SIL/HIL, hardware integration, and flight test.
  • Support propulsion-coupled dynamics modeling, including thrust misalignment, slosh effects, and flexible-body considerations as needed.
  • Lead GNC participation in system-level reviews (MCR, SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR) and serve as the primary technical voice for the discipline.
  • Analyze flight telemetry and test data to assess performance, diagnose anomalies, and drive configuration or algorithm updates.
  • Define safe-mode, fault management, and degraded control strategies in partnership with FSW and systems engineering.
  • Mentor and manage GNC engineers, establishing best practices, code standards, simulation frameworks, and technical rigor across the team.
  • Support early-orbit operations and critical mission phases as required.

  • Experience designing control systems for agile or propulsive maneuvering spacecraft.

  • Experience with multi-agent relative navigation or machine learning for estimation, perception, or task planning.
  • Experience leading small technical teams in startup or NewSpace environments.
  • Prior support of on-orbit commissioning or anomaly resolution efforts.

Quantum Space appoints Adarsh Parekh as CFO ahead of Nasdaq listing

Quantum Space has appointed Adarsh Parekh as chief financial officer to oversee financial strategy as the company develops its Ranger spacecraft platform and prepares to go public through a merger with Inflection Point Acquisition Corp. VI. Parekh brings over 20 years of experience in space and technology sectors. He previously served as CFO at Sidus Space and Terran Orbital, where he led the company's sale to Lockheed Martin. He began his career in investment banking at Lehman Brothers. Quantum Space holds six contracts with US Space Force, Department of War, DARPA and Air Force Research Laboratory. The company is developing the Ranger platform, a manoeuvrable spacecraft designed for national security and commercial operations in geostationary orbit.

Seasoned leadership could help Quantum Space's IPO take off. by Mark R. Whittington, opinion contributor - 06/21/26 10:00 AM ET While all eyes have been on the recent SpaceX IPO, another, smaller aerospace company is preparing to go public as well. Quantum Space will initiate an IPO by merging with the special purpose acquisition company, Inflection Point Acquisition Corp. VI. The deal is supposed to close later this year. Quantum Space was founded several years ago with a proposed line of spacecraft called Ranger. Ranger would operate from low Earth orbit to cis-lunar space in a variety of roles. The highly maneuverable ship will be used to service commercial satellites, move payloads to their ultimate destinations, possibly dispose of large space junk and for national defense purposes related to the proposed Golden Dome missile defense system. Ranger's flexibility means it wouldn't be limited to a fixed orbit, which would be very beneficial for Golden Dome. It will also be refuellable, extending its operational life. Quantum Space is headquartered in Maryland, close to Washington, D.C., where most of its potential customers are located. It has a manufacturing plant in Hawthorne, California, an integration facility in Huntsville, Alabama, and a new parts and large tanks manufacturing facility being built in Tulsa, Okla. Last month, Quantum Space named former NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine as its CEO. Bridenstine brings a lot of education and experience to the role. He has a bachelor's degree in business, economics and psychology from Rice University and a master's degree in business administration from Cornell University. Instead of joining a brokerage firm or a hedge fund, Bridenstine became a naval aviator. He flew in missions fighting the drug trade in Central and South America and as an aggressor pilot at Nevada's Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center, the parent organization of Top Gun. Bridenstine was elected as the representative for Oklahoma's 1st Congressional District in 2012 and was reelected twice. He focused much of his time on space and defense issues. President Trump nominated Bridenstine to be NASA administrator in 2017. After a confirmation process that was made contentious by his status as a politician and a conservative Republican, he was finally confirmed in April 2018. Bridenstine's major accomplishment as head of the space agency was to garner bipartisan support for the Artemis return to the moon program, as well as bringing the Commercial Crew program to its inception. When he left NASA at the end of Trump's first term, President Joe Biden continued both programs. After leaving NASA, Bridenstine returned to his home in Tulsa, where he founded the Artemis Group, an aerospace-focused consulting and lobbying firm. Bridenstine's education, experience and knowledge of space issues, as well as his contacts in Washington, will be important once Ranger becomes operational. Quantum Space and Ranger represent a new way of doing business with the government. Now, aerospace companies are anticipating government and commercial aerospace needs and developing products and services that could fulfill them in advance of a formal contract. The approach may be about to bear fruit as the company is already involved in a number of government development programs with a spacecraft that is not functional yet. This is made easier by the fact that the Trump administration has embarked on two wide-ranging and open-ended space programs, the Artemis project and Golden Dome. Artemis means to construct a base on the moon before sending astronauts to Mars. Golden Dome is a revival of President Ronald Reagan's Strategic Defense Initiative, but with modern technology. A finished Ranger would be able to perform a variety of tasks for both undertakings but could also serve purely commercial markets. It could become a lucrative profit maker if it is made to work. The first test flight, designated as Ranger Prime, is scheduled for no earlier than the second quarter of 2027. A lot depends on how the test flight turns out. In the meantime, the proceeds of the IPO will be used to build the Tulsa manufacturing plant and to accelerate the Ranger's development. Quantum Space is just one of the latest players in the burgeoning commercial space sector. As late as the turn of the 21st century, the idea of an independent commercial space industry was more of a dream than a reality. Thanks to companies like Quantum Space, the dream is rapidly taking form. Mark R. Quantum Space wins DoW contract to develop on-orbit fuel depot for US Space Force

Quantum Space has secured a Department of War contract to develop an orbital fuel depot demonstration that enables in-space refuelling and extends spacecraft operational lifetimes for the US Space Force. The company will build the depot on its Ranger platform, which features a patented multimode propulsion system combining chemical and electric capabilities. The contract, funded through the Operational Energy Capability Improvement Fund, aims to create logistics infrastructure critical for sustained US space operations. Quantum Space CEO Jim Bridenstine called it "a transformational step toward building the in-space logistics architecture" needed for resilient space operations. Quantum Space also holds a contract for the Space Force's Andromeda programme. The company recently announced a proposed business combination with Inflection Point Acquisition Corp. VI, which could result in a Nasdaq listing later this year.
